Amitabha Buddha's discourse:
What is meant by "false"? It is empty and unreal, superficial.
What is meant by "delusion"? It is untrue, a deluded thought.
Practice is to recover the true self-nature, the true suchness of one's nature,
and since falsity and delusion do not belong to -nature,
one must stay away from falsity and delusion to succeed in practice.
If one keeps the heart dwelling in falsity and delusion, how can one succeed in practice?
All suffering in the world arises because one does not recognise the truth, mistaking the illusory for reality and taking delusion as true,
for example: this body is a false body, yet one takes the false as true,
thinking this body belongs to oneself, fearing its loss, and clinging to it tightly,
which brings about many afflictions because of this body.
Delusion, discrimination, and attachment are the essence of afflictions.
The reason ordinary people are ordinary people is that they have afflictions with them,
differing only in their coarseness, shallowness, or depth.
Chant one Buddha's name to the end,
is the most powerful method to recover the truth, because the Buddha's are within it.
People of the world do not know the magnificent meritorious power and majestic spiritual power of this Buddha-name,
nor do they know of the existence of the self-nature, so they take delusion as true.
They do not know that the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is a Buddha-land, nor do they know that Amitabha Buddha is the Buddha nature within you.
When the heart is pure, the land is pure; those with a pure heart can see Amitabha.
Staying away from falsity and delusion, and not being led by them, is the understanding a practitioner should have.
Following one's personality is falsity and delusion, because personality is the manifestation of confusion, afflictions, and ,
which belongs to beings who are reincarnated.
Buddha or and those who have realised their true nature have pure hearts, free from falsity and delusion.
If they appear to have a personality, it is only to adapt to beings, to teach and save beings.
Staying away from falsity and delusion is the heart and action a practitioner should have if they wish to realise their true nature.
One should examine one's Body, Speech, and Mind; if there is any falsity or delusion, one should quickly stay away from it.
