Words of Namo Amituofo:
In "The Infinite Sutra (The Buddha Speaks the , Infinite Life, Adornment, Purity, Impartiality, and Sutra) - Chapter 38: Respect for the Buddha and Manifestation of Light"
The sutra text mentions:
When Shakyamuni Buddha initially described the various dignity, beauty, and magnificence of Amitabha and the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss to the assembly,
Ananda, on behalf of the assembly, said, "We wish to see Amitabha of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, to make offerings and serve Him,
and to grow good roots," he bowed to the Buddha, which moved Amitabha to manifest before them,
causing the entire assembly to praise Him and make vows to be born in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Because growing good roots and making offerings to Amitabha is a magnificent act, and is the path to being an awakened being and becoming a Buddha,
Amitabha felt in His heart and thus manifested auspicious signs before them.
Growing good roots is a path that those who have achieved success in their practice must traverse,
and it is the essential path towards being an awakened being and becoming a Buddha.
: the eye seeing, ear hearing, nose smelling,
tongue tasting, body touching, and mind perceiving ; if these enter into and thoughts,
they become manifestations governed by discriminations and attachments; this is the state of beings bound by .
If one allows the nature of the eye root, ear root, nose root, tongue root, body root, and mind root to be the master,
without passing through thoughts, without entering into consciousness, and by letting keen spirit and awareness be the master,
this is the state of those who have achieved success in meditative concentration and awakened beings;
the days they live are cool, refreshing, and at ease,
rather than acting according to delusions and discriminations like beings bound by karma, which leads them away from their true self.
Growing good roots:
24/7, keep Namo Amituofo in every thought, chant one Buddha's name to the end,
with continuous chanting without interruption.
By keeping a good heart, doing Goodness, speaking good words, and being a good person.
By giving rise to all and achieve the fruit of Bodhi (Enlightenment).
By seeing that everyone is a Buddha and possesses their true self.
Through respect for all Buddhas.
