Interview with Nick Bolkus
Former Australian Labor Party Politician and Lawyer
Nick Bolkus:
Hello everyone, I am Nick Bolkus.
If you remember me, you will know me as a former Senator and Minister. Under normal circumstances, there would be no opportunity for us to meet again, as I have passed away. Yet, against all expectations, I am able to reach out and speak to you now—a reality I find truly miraculous.
This extraordinary opportunity is thanks to the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia, which rescued my spirit from the realm I inhabited after my passing. It has been a deeply profound experience; I never truly comprehended what the spiritual world would be like. I was entirely unaware that another world existed after death where the spirit continues its life. Although the environment and scenery I perceive now differ slightly from my earthly existence, the familiar tools, places, and people I once knew feel remarkably similar, meaning the transition did not feel entirely disruptive.
However, it was only after being guided to a realm known as the "Western Land of Nature" at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre that I finally accepted the fact of my own passing. The realisation itself feels quite extraordinary. If you have ever experienced a dream so vivid that it felt entirely real, only to awaken and understand it was an illusion, you will understand exactly how I feel.
Sitting quietly here on the Dharma-Nature Land, looking back at the time immediately following my death, it feels just like a dream. At the time, I had no idea I was dreaming, nor did I comprehend that I had died. Looking back even further, my entire earthly life now resembles a grand dream from which I have finally awakened; those past events now feel completely detached from who I am.
As I sit peacefully in this realm, the chaotic affairs of the material world can no longer reach me. What do past glories and achievements matter to my spirit now? In truth, they hold no direct relevance to my current existence; they have simply become memory checkpoints connecting me to my past.
During my lifetime, I was deeply committed to championing the rights of immigrants, protecting minority groups, and defending consumers. However, I now understand that the protection of these rights ultimately depends on an individual's own accumulated . The most fundamental way to secure one's rights is to consistently perform good deeds, offer genuine help to others, and reduce selfish desires. When you think less of yourself, positive outcomes naturally follow. This is not mere superstition; it is an absolute spiritual reality.
I can state this with absolute certainty because, as a spirit, my vision is no longer obscured. The more clearly I see, the more I realise that every action taken in the human world directly reverberates throughout the spiritual realms. Good deeds resonate with positive spirits, who naturally return blessings to you. Conversely, negative actions align with malevolent spirits, ensuring that adversity is returned in kind.
While the definitions of 'good' and 'bad' can often seem vague in worldly discourse, listening to the sutras on the Dharma-Nature Land has brought me total clarity. The ultimate distinction between a good deed and a bad deed lies entirely in one's intent: are you genuinely thinking of others and trying to help them, or are you acting out of narrow, selfish motives? This is the true measure of morality. There are countless subtle nuances within this framework that words cannot easily capture, but having traversed the ghost realm and arrived at the Dharma-Nature Land, I see it all clearly.
Nothing in the human world can be hidden. Even if you manage to deceive others on Earth, everything is laid bare to the spiritual world with absolute transparency; a spirit cannot be fooled. Because I actively promoted equality and protected the interests of diverse communities during my life, that genuine concern for the public good has served me well in the afterlife. On the flip side, any actions I took purely out of selfishness or family bias inevitably brought harm to my own spiritual progression.
I was incredibly fortunate to spend some time in the ghost realm rather than descending into the hells, which I attribute to my own remaining blessings. Lately, I have heard the accounts of many deceased public figures who cannot comprehend why they unexpectedly wound up in the hells to endure severe punishment. The fact that I avoided those realms of torment is an immense blessing. I do not say this to boast, but simply to illustrate to everyone that the spiritual world and the ghost realm are undeniable realities.
In truth, everyone transitions into a spirit after death. In fact, we are already spirits while alive; death simply means the physical body can no longer function, forcing the spirit to depart. Once liberated from , your true life in the spiritual world officially begins, becoming your new daily existence. At that point, the specific spiritual realm you occupy determines whether your days are filled with excruciating torment or sublime .
The Dharma-Nature Land and the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, established by Namo Amituofo, represent a Buddha-realm designed to allow sentient beings to dwell in absolute peace, completely sheltered from external suffering. This is what is known as the "Pure Land." If people could only understand at the moment of death that a spiritual existence awaits them, they would instantly realise that the meaningless pursuits of the material world offer no real benefit. What truly matters to the spirit is sincerely helping others, cultivating a mindset of genuine care, protecting the rights of different ethnic groups, and treating all people with equality, tolerance, and true humility.
Only by embodying these virtues can one be embraced by a positive spiritual realm and earn the opportunity to enter Namo Amituofo’s Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is a world of absolute purity and goodness; if your heart is not in alignment with such beauty, you simply cannot enter.
During my days listening to the sutras on the Dharma-Nature Land, I have watched Practitioner Su powerfully perform the rituals for boundless sentient beings during the . This has solidified my belief that the vast majority of our universe is composed of spirits. Even the physical matter we perceive—whether solid, liquid, gas, or pure energy—teems with countless, invisible spirits. If you cannot see them with your own eyes, you may remain sceptical, but as a spirit observing this world with complete clarity, I assure you it is a fact.
It is incredibly difficult for a human being to escape the unseen influence of spirits; indeed, the entire human body is filled with them, and I was no exception. Throughout my life, I was constantly driven to act in certain ways or adopt specific behaviours; in truth, most of these actions were dictated by the spirits dwelling within my own body.
They understood my personality intimately—knowing my hobbies, my thought processes, my logic, and the background in which I was raised. Because they knew everything about me, they could perfectly align with my ego, rationalising my choices and feeding me concepts they knew I would accept as correct.
I was continually influenced by their silent promptings, and those very actions ultimately dictated my post-death destination. The spiritual world operates in truly extraordinary ways. Now that I am a spirit myself, I can verify this unconditionally. The realities playing out before me are things I could scarcely have imagined when I possessed a physical form, so I fully understand why this is difficult for most living people to grasp.
Even so, it is vital to engage with Buddhist education as early as possible. If you enter the ghost realm completely unprepared, you risk becoming trapped in that space, wandering aimlessly without any concept of time or an end to your plight. This brings an unspeakable, lingering sorrow. To pass away without even realising you are dead is perhaps the greatest tragedy imaginable.
It is entirely possible to remain stranded in an illusory, dim environment for decades, centuries, or even thousands of years. To be stuck there alone, missing the opportunity to ascend to a magnificent, luminous world simply because you are unaware it exists, is a profound pity.
Therefore, I strongly advise my family and dear friends—if you still hold me in your thoughts—to understand that I see the truth clearly now. I would never recommend something detrimental or misleading to you. I passionately advocate for Buddhist education because it explains the mechanics of the spiritual world with absolute thoroughness and clarity. It is the single best way to safeguard your future, particularly the transition into spiritual life after you leave your physical body behind.
Everyone should diligently study these teachings before their time comes. Otherwise, if a negative or corrupted thought arises at the exact moment of your passing, you will naturally be drawn into the hells to face punishment. This is something everyone must remain highly vigilant about.
If you wish to explore these teachings, you can search directly online for the "Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia".
Following my rescue by the Centre, I was brought into a spiritual space completely devoid of darkness. Instead, it is an exceptionally pure, clean, radiant, and reassuring realm known as the "Western Land of Dharma Nature."
From this vantage point, I can see everything clearly. To anyone with whom I share a karmic bond, if you wish to find me, you are welcome to visit the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. The Centre is located along the highway in Brisbane, marked by prominent billboards that read: "No ageing, no sickness, the spirit never dies." This message highlights the fundamental truth of the spiritual world: when a person passes away, their spirit does not cease to exist, but continues to traverse the universe in a different form.
The Earth itself is crowded with all kinds of spirits. If you can come to understand your own spiritual state early in life, you will unlock the power to completely transform your destiny. If the opportunity arises, please come and meet me for a chat. Even if you are sceptical or half-doubting, an in-person connection can clear up many uncertainties.
