Teachings by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju:
Receiving Buddha's is to receive Buddha's assistance,
which is a matter of great importance for practice.
In the age of the ’s decline, the of beings is deep and heavy.
For those who achieve success in Pure Land practice,
it is certain that they believe in the Buddha and have received the Buddha's blessings and assistance, only then can they achieve success.
Success differs for every practitioner, as it varies according to their individual vows.
For matters that one cannot overcome through in practice, under the condition of following the principles and the Dharma,
one may request the Buddha's blessings to receive Buddha's assistance, allowing matters to proceed smoothly and principles to be fulfilled.
Those who vow to be reborn in the Western Pure Land, generate (Enlightenment), and single-mindedly chant "Namo Amituofo" will,
on the foundation of believing in the Buddha and through diligent practice of chanting the Buddha's name by self-power, certainly receive the Buddha's blessings and assistance.
If one thinks they believe in the Buddha but has not truly believed, failing to have awareness and action,
even if they request the Buddha's blessings and assistance, it is difficult for the Buddha to provide them,
and it is difficult for the practice to achieve success.
Before transforming karma, impermanence follows, and the "situations" of -Mind-Spirit proceed within the laws of karma and cause and effect.
Impermanence itself is one of the realities.
Unless one is an awakened being or one of the four sages—Sravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, Bodhisattvas, or Buddhas—
who are not subject to the suffering of reincarnation and can transcend impermanence;
otherwise, all beings reincarnated within the ten directions are accompanied by impermanence.
Even for the of those who believe in the Buddha, amidst the Buddha's blessings and assistance,
one's vow must be greater than one's karma. By moving forward according to one's vow and achieving the vow,
one can be liberated from the entanglement of impermanent karma, and further, become an awakened being and attain ease and purity.
Believing in the Buddha is a skill of the heart, manifested in one's practice;
it is a conviction and a reliance for the heart.
Those who believe in the Buddha respect and revere the Buddha,
and by practising and chanting the Buddha's name with a pure, undefiled, and sincere heart,
they can receive the full blessings and assistance of the Buddha.
If one cannot be the master of oneself, has not truly believed in the Buddha, or chants the Buddha's name only by following circumstances or the crowd,
because of a lack of belief or a lack of firm belief in the Buddha, even if the Buddha's blessings are bestowed upon them, they cannot receive them.
It is like someone caught in the rain who is offered an umbrella but refuses to accept it, thus suffering the hardship of being rained upon.
Those who can chant one Buddha's name to the end are those who believe in the Buddha and follow the teachings;
they will certainly receive the Buddha's blessings and assistance, and achieve success.
