Chief writer: Venerable HaiZe. 15 May 2026. Teachings by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju: If one wishes to succeed in practice, one must have deep faith: deep faith in , and deep faith that one possesses the true self. [[BLOCK_0]] Practitioners may ask: 'I have already entered the Buddha’s gate, and have even become a monastic, how could I not have faith in Namo Amituofo?' If one is unable to follow the teachings, and still retains one's personality traits, then one has not yet developed deep faith in Namo Amituofo; instead, one has faith in oneself, faith in the 'self,' and faith in the 'self' of the , and thus one will suffer, still enduring the sufferings of aging, sickness, and death. If one still holds onto one's own opinions, views, and subjectivity, and when the Buddha’s teachings or the Teacher’s words differ from one's own opinions or views, one chooses to follow one's own methods, then one has not developed deep faith in Namo Amituofo, nor deep faith in the Teacher. Those who do not follow the words of Practitioner Su and repeat the same mistakes have not developed deep faith in Practitioner Su; instead, they have faith in themselves, faith in the 'self,' and faith in the 'self' of the karmic body, and thus they will suffer, still enduring the sufferings of aging, sickness, and death. [[BLOCK_1]] At the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in the Toowoomba region of Queensland, Australia, where Namo Amituofo abides, those who have deep faith in Namo Amituofo are able to follow the teachings. The so-called 'teachings' refer to the doctrines and principles. The Infinite Life Sutra (The Buddha Speaks the , Infinite Life, Adornment, Purity, Impartiality, and Sutra) is the primary guiding principle for practice at Hsiang Kuang. Those who have deep faith in Namo Amituofo are able to act according to the teachings of Namo Amituofo, which means they can change their personality traits; if they have not changed, they must change again, until they have thoroughly eliminated their personality traits. Those who have deep faith in Namo Amituofo are diligent in their daily practice without interruption; through self-effort and diligent practice, they can receive the Buddha's , and their practice will progress. [[BLOCK_2]] Those who have deep faith in the Teacher are able to act according to the Teacher’s teachings. Those who have deep faith in Practitioner Su are able to act according to the words of Practitioner Su. [[BLOCK_3]] If one has deep faith that one possesses the true self, yet one's has not been transformed and one still cannot be self-mastered, then one must listen and be diligent. One must let go of the 'self,' let go of the 'self' of the karmic body, and achieve and selflessness. In particular, one must change one's personality traits so as not to be led by beings into other spaces, thereby improving the condition of being drowsy. [[BLOCK_4]] Therefore, one should have deep faith in Namo Amituofo, the Teacher, and Practitioner Su, and have deep faith that one possesses the true self, while being active and persistent, moving step by step towards becoming an awakened being.
