Teachings by the Teacher. Recorded and transcribed by ’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe. 8 May 2026. Teachings by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju: The human body is composed of cells, internal organs, and the elements of earth, water, fire, and wind. Once the spirit enters , it becomes a human being. I exist in this world for the sake of this body. For the sake of the existence of "me" and this body, people create much through Body, Speech, and Mind, with good and negative karma mixed within. This is the cause of being reincarnated. [[BLOCK_0]] This body carries the karma and the and the causes and effects from accumulated lifetimes. To have a "self" is to have personality traits and karma. If one can change personality traits until not even a trace remains, it means letting go of the "self" and selfishness. This is to cease the of good and negative karma, and even to transform karma and become an awakened being. [[BLOCK_1]] People often create many sins selfishly to protect the "self" and this body. If one can let go of the "self" and this body, and engage in "True Cultivation," practising early to purify this body, so that the cells, internal organs, and the beings of earth, water, fire, and wind within the body are all purified, this is an important reason for achieving success in practice and finding one's true self. [[BLOCK_2]] Besides diligent practice through one's own power, the Gate can also receive the compassionate of Namo Amituofo, which helps with the speed of purification, and allows the act of letting go of the body to be more effective. [[BLOCK_3]] If one desires to become an awakened being, one must first possess sufficient Blessings and merits. Therefore, there is a saying: "To become a dragon or elephant of the Buddha’s gate, one must first be an ox or horse for all beings." This means that by serving beings and doing various tasks, one accumulates one's own Blessings and merits, which are the provisions for achieving success in practice. Those who are selfless and have , if they can wholeheartedly follow Namo Amituofo to save beings, are actually the first to be saved. [[BLOCK_4]] Regarding the path of reincarnation, for a practitioner, if one can encounter the guidance of a Buddha or , patriarchs and venerable masters, or those who have realised their true nature, and can listen and accept their teachings, entering into selflessness and no-self, this is an important reason for achieving success in practice.
