Teachings by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju:
Personality is mostly the "self," personal ego, and selfishness accumulated over accumulated lifetimes,
not formed overnight.
Personality influences an individual's spirit, behaviour, speech, attitude, and emotions,
and it can also be said to be the primary cause of personal success or failure and the cycle of .
Because personality involves a "self,"
personality shapes the "me"—personality is "me," my personality is like this, I want it to be like this.
Thus, thoughts arise, and karma begins to manifest.
Where there is a "self," there is selfishness; where I am, karma is.
Where there is , there is no karma; this is the time to transform karma.
The requires practice,
correcting and letting go of one's own behaviour, mental notes, views, and opinions,
entering into pure goodness, no-self, and selflessness, only then can one transform karma;
by following the universal principle, righteous principles, and the righteous path, can one stay away from Aging, sickness, and death.
Beings of the six paths have bodies and a "self," expressing this "self" through ,
but this "self" is often not mastered by one's own true self, but by countless beings within the body—
that is, , attached spirits, or demon crowds taking control,
using the body as a tool for debt collection and retaliation.
Therefore, the selfish and personality-driven "me" at this time is not truly oneself,
the truth is that this "me" is the karmic creditors, attached spirits, and demon crowds.
Yet, reincarnated beings cannot escape this "self," living within the world of "me."
Many relationships, roles, and personality traits are all manifestations of karma,
manifesting through personality, where selfishness and the protection of the "self" create karma, leading to the creation of much negative karma.
Thus, letting go of the "self" and changing personality traits during the process of practice and purification becomes essential.
Chant one Buddha's name to the end is the perfect remedy for changing personality traits.
Letting go of the "self," putting down the body, and practising Generosity (Giving)—this is the selfless one.
I am a Buddha, a Buddha who comes to help others, a Buddha who comes to save others.
Forget yourself, just do it, prevent karma from manifesting, and allow your practice to continue,
purification, and then more purification, until the time of becoming an awakened being.
