Teachings by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju:
For those whose hearts are not settled, looking around aimlessly causes the heart to fluctuate and rise and fall.
What is seen enters the eyes and becomes eye-.
The sixth and seventh consciousnesses then make discriminations or give rise to attachments.
These sights that enter the eye-consciousness are all stored in the , following you throughout your many lives.
The sounds that are heard enter the ear-consciousness, and the sixth and seventh consciousnesses make discriminations or give rise to attachments, which are also stored in the Alaya consciousness.
For those whose hearts are settled, looking around aimlessly does not stir mental notes, nor does it enter the consciousness; it is handled in the present moment.
It does not stir the sixth, seventh, or eighth Alaya consciousness, which means it does not stir .
It does not allow karma to manifest, nor does it allow to awaken.
This is the skill of practice; when karma does not manifest, you are not subject to various sufferings.
For Buddhas or Bodhisattvas and those who have realised their true nature, their Alaya consciousness has already been transformed into the Great Perfect Mirror Wisdom, which is a state of pure light.
Therefore, their reactions are not driven by karma, but by the Wisdom (Prajna) of light.
Thus, the reactions of these two types of people regarding speech, actions, and even changes in people, things, and environments are naturally different.
For example, the speech and philosophy of the that flow from lectures flow from the Wisdom (Prajna) of the true self; this is different from the explanations and philosophy derived from encountering to form the six consciousnesses, in terms of depth, breadth, and the angle from which problems are approached.
Therefore, those who have not realised their true nature should turn their hearts inward.
Do not look around aimlessly; do not let the Six Roots chase the Six Dusts to produce the six consciousnesses, so as to avoid giving rise to delusions, discriminations, and attachments, for these are all afflictions.
Chant one Buddha's name to the end, and purify your Body, Speech, and Mind; when they are completely purified, Wisdom (Prajna) will manifest.
