Words of Namo Amituofo:
"Do not regret halfway" refers to not having regrets or second thoughts midway through a task.
For example, if one has regrets halfway through keeping the , one cannot maintain the Precepts and will break them.
What should one not regret halfway?
Matters that benefit beings should be carried out directly and persistently; do not think there is too much to do.
Do not have regrets halfway, and do not fail to perform a good deed just because it is small.
Regarding matters of serving beings, do not calculate how much you do, and do not have regrets halfway through.
In worldly affairs or in practice, delusions, discriminations, and attachments are constant.
Even if you encounter them, you should have meditative concentration, recognise that they are all illusory, and do not let them interfere with or affect your practice.
Once you have chosen to leave the home life and keep the Precepts, you must proceed directly forward; you must not regret halfway.
If there is regret, you have already created and damaged your and wisdom.
Do not regret halfway regarding promises made to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. If there is regret, you may need to repent;
Once you enter repentance, it indicates that there is already a previous offence, and you may be able to reduce the previous offence,
But because it has already been created, it cannot be as pure as it was before the act was committed.
When the conditions ripen, the fruit of suffering must still be endured.
Having decided to leave the home life, you know suffering—your own suffering and the suffering of all beings.
For beings who are reincarnated, there is not one being who can be free from the sufferings of samsara!
The Five Turbidities and Evil World, the entire cycle of reincarnation, is a world of extreme suffering.
It is just life and death in segments;
People only see this life and do not see the past, so they cannot feel the profound suffering.
Leaving the home life is a clear path.
You should focus on your practice, be diligent, and not be interfered with by the karmic forces of reincarnation outside of your body.
Your innate ability for purification will then manifest.
Like opening up space to converse with the Buddha, this is an ability that manifests through purification and the Buddha's .
Only by resolving your own karmic suffering can you have the ability to save beings and resolve their suffering!
The path of practice has many tests.
It tests your determination to free yourself from suffering and your to save beings from suffering.
The beings within our bodies are the first to be saved.
It also tests your perseverance in using Patience (Endurance) to overcome physical tests and the tests of demons.
Therefore, on the path of practice, do not regret halfway; do not regret halfway.
At Hsiang Kuang, if you achieve spiritual success, you will be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss and save all beings to be reborn there as well.
The greatest beneficiaries are yourself and the beings within your body, who will attain liberation from life and death, be free from the sufferings of samsara, and be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
