Amitabha Buddha's discourse:
“Hundreds and thousands of lights and colours, each colour with a unique fragrance,”
These two lines describe the offerings brought by beings of the Western Land to the Buddha-lands of the ten directions, which include offerings of wonderful flowers and flower canopies.
A flower canopy is a parasol decorated with flowers; this canopy can emit hundreds and thousands of types of light, hundreds and thousands of colours, and hundreds and thousands of floral fragrances, with the light and colours shining everywhere.
If the offerings in the of Ultimate Bliss are this magnificent, then the dwellings, the grounds, and the Seven-Jewel Lecture Halls of the beings of the Western Land are even more magnificent—they are not of this world, cannot be seen in this world, and cannot be found.
Hundreds and thousands of lights and colours, each colour with a unique fragrance—these scenes of light and colour and these unique fragrances can be seen and smelled at all times and in all places in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Beings of the Western Land lead a life of great dignity and , without even a trace of unhappiness.
In the human world, the practice of the Pure Land is to hope that people can cultivate their hearts, keeping them pure and untainted.
When the heart is like the Pure Land, the heart is the Pure Land; use this heart to make offerings to the Buddha nature within you and to all beings.
Offer the dignity of your body, the dignity of your heart, and the dignity of your spirit to the Buddha nature within you, so that you may soon see your true nature and attain accomplishment.
This is the true magnificence and wonder of Pure Land practice within the Five Turbidities and Evil World.
The true light of self-nature illuminates the great thousand-fold world; the light of Amitabha Buddha’s body is majestic and towering, far more than just hundreds and thousands of lights, colours, and fragrances.
The light shines upon beings in the ten directions of the Realm; all Buddha-lands receive the Buddha-light,
purifying and purifying again, the Buddha-light shines brilliantly, illuminating the entire Dharma Realm and the void.
Practise purifying , heart, and spirit, and light will naturally manifest within the body,
with no worries or afflictions, only steady progress step by step.
Though the body is in the Five Turbidities and Evil World, the heart is in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss,
as the spirit is elevated again and again, only then can one be cool and calm to see one's true nature.
