Amitabha Buddha's discourse:
In this world, the more one is able to be the master, have one's own opinions, and stand alone—whether in academic fields, the workplace, or even within the family—the more one holds the power of decision or the right to be the master.
Once one leaves the world to enter a bodhimanda for practice and becomes a member of the fourfold assembly, one gathers with others from all directions who have different personalities and different worldly experiences in various professional fields to practise in the bodhimanda.
This is different from the environment in the world where things follow one's own wishes.
When one has not yet become an awakened being, has not changed personality traits, or still possesses a strong personality, if others do not adopt one's own methods or views, or have opinions about oneself, it is easy to give rise to anger. This attracts the manifestation of or spiritual attachment by beings with similar personalities, and may even lead to being in sync with the minds of demon crowds, resulting in spiritual attachment by demons.
This situation can be seen in both the bodhimanda and the general world. This is also the reason why practice emphasises cultivating the mind, looking inward rather than seeking outward, and requiring things of oneself rather than requiring things of others.
Others have their own and the causes and effects. How to ensure that one does not let one's heart fluctuate due to the words, actions, or views of others, leading to the manifestation of through anger, is an important matter.
Those who have achieved success in meditative concentration can keep the heart stable and without waves 24/7. may respond with actions and words due to changes in external circumstances, but the heart does not move; it does not fluctuate, and it faces things with composure.
This can also be seen in those who understand the truth and the transient illusion, and who chant the Buddha-name continuously 24/7. Because they are within the Buddha's , they have meditative concentration in their hearts. They are not influenced by the anger, evil thoughts, or the tone and angry words of others directed at them. The Buddha-name in their hearts can be chanted straight through, helping them to remain calm and composed in facing everything. They are not influenced by external circumstances, and their hearts do not fluctuate or give rise to anger. Over a long period, this can form a stable nature. Thus, the Buddha-name can cut off anger; this is the magnificent aspect of chanting the Buddha's name.
