A Mother's Heartfelt Plea for Rebirth
The Fourth Letter of Lay Practitioner Zhao Liangyu
Written to Venerable Ding Hong on July 20, 2017
My dear son, your mother knows of your filial piety. I have always seen your wisdom and your gentle, obedient nature. Every decision you have made in your life has been carefully considered and planned, and I have always supported and trusted in your path. However, this time, I fear you may not fully believe the words I am speaking to you now. Although I no longer possess a physical body, I am still here. I am still able to speak, and I long to speak to you, my dear child. I hope that you will come to see your old mother. There are so many things I did not have the chance to say to you while I was alive.
The Clarity of the
It was only after I arrived at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre that I truly became clear and awakened. I wish for you to grow—not just in your worldly duties, but to grow on the path toward the Western Pure Land. I am waiting for you, Venerable Ding Hong. If you cannot bring yourself to believe these words from your mother, then I ask you to consider me as a devotee who is earnestly seeking an audience with you. Venerable Ding Hong, please show your . Although I am now but a spirit, I still have the capacity to speak.
A Final Request for Deliverance
If I can only meet with you once, I will be able to attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land. I beseech you, in your great compassion, to arrange a time for us to meet at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. My request is simple, yet it carries the weight of my future existence:
- I seek to meet you to resolve the lingering attachments of my past life.
- I wish to receive your guidance so that I may fully commit to the path of the Western Pure Land.
- I hope to find the peace that comes with true and the promise of Namo Amituofo.
Please, I ask you to look upon this request with the kindness of a practitioner. My time in this state is precious, and the opportunity to be guided toward the Western Pure Land is the greatest gift I could ever receive. I wait for your response with a hopeful heart, trusting in the power of the and the compassion of Namo Amituofo.
