A Mother's Plea from the Spiritual Realm
The Third Letter of Lay Practitioner Zhao Liangyu
A Message to Venerable Ding Hong, 17 June 2017
Gratitude to Namo Amituofo
I offer my deepest gratitude to the Buddha, to Namo Amituofo. Although I have not personally walked through the gates of this temple in this lifetime, my son has. Recently, I have often found myself reflecting on the image of my son as he appeared when he visited this sacred place five years ago. I can still see him sitting in that very spot, a memory etched into the fabric of time. Even though that moment has passed into the history of this space, I can see it clearly now from where I reside.
The Reality of the Spiritual Realm
I yearn with all my heart that, through my own connection and , my son might find his way into the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. I am truly Lay Practitioner Zhao Liangyu. I understand that people in the world today find it difficult to distinguish between the reality of the spiritual realms and the illusions of the physical world. They would rather remain in their comfort zones than believe in truths that challenge their perception. If I were still alive in the world, I suspect I would have been just as skeptical, finding it hard to believe in such profound and seemingly extraordinary facts.
However, my dear son, you must believe one thing: even if it means you must suffer a loss, you must still choose to trust others. This is the true essence of learning the . Only by doing so can you truly be without the burden of discriminations. When you first chose to leave the home life to become a monk, I held many hopes for you. I hope that you still carry those aspirations within your heart. If you merely go through the motions of what you think you must do, you will never reach the true fruit of your practice.
The Path of True Practice
I hope that the Venerable or the lay practitioners who read this letter will be able to pass this message on to my son with sincerity. I have not yet reached the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Do you know your mother's character? I am willing to delay my own journey to the Western Pure Land if it means I can first help to save my son. You have the potential to become a great and accomplished Dharma master. Therefore, this stage of your journey must be navigated correctly. You must come here and see for yourself; many things can only be understood when one witnesses the truth firsthand. At the very least, this place has the power to expand your mind-capacity.
A Mother's Waiting Heart
Maosen, this message is absolutely true and authentic. It has not been easy for these words to be recorded. I may be but a spirit drifting in the void, carried by the currents of , but it was the of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre that reached out to save the mother of Ding Hong. You must be infinitely grateful for this, and you must believe in the reality of this event. Your mother is waiting for you here, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Namo Amituofo.
