Amitabha Buddha's discourse:
"Benefiting All Beings" refers to bestowing grace universally and benefiting all beings.
"All beings" does not refer to specific targets, but to beings in the six realms of existence and the vast, boundless multitude of beings.
Those who can benefit all beings possess ; they know the suffering of beings and can save beings from suffering.
Understanding what beings need and being able to provide it through Generosity (Giving) is the action of one with great mind-capacity, and it is also one of the conditions that must be possessed in practice.
Those who can benefit all beings,
if they can not dwell in the mind, what is obtained is merit; benefiting all beings is a method to accumulate merit;
if they dwell in the mind, what is obtained is .
Whether it is merit or Blessings,
both are the provisions that must be possessed for the fulfilment of vows and success in practice.
How to benefit all beings?
The methods of benefiting can vary according to circumstances, conditions, time, and place,
one can benefit beings through "skillful means,"
among which -giving is the most magnificent and has a far-reaching influence.
If one achieves success in practice, only then will one have the ability to save beings, which is an active method of benefiting all beings.
For example, through lectures, the grace bestowed upon beings is limitless; this is a long-term influence on character,
perhaps they may receive the benefits of the Dharma upon hearing it, or through long-term immersing ourselves in these teachings, they may have the opportunity to change their behaviour.
For example, by making offerings to all beings, including offerings to the monastic, so that they have no lack of food, clothing, housing, or transport, and can focus on their practice and the Buddha's path.
If the recipients of the benefits of benefiting all beings are those with karmic affinity for the Dharma Gate, the greatest benefit to these beings
is to be able to help or educate beings to chant Buddha's name and make vows to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, to attain Buddhahood.
The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and the Western Land of Dharma Nature are the Buddha-land for benefiting all beings, helping beings leave suffering behind and gain happiness, and attaining Buddhahood.
And the six-character name "Namo Amituofo" is the most magnificent "skillful means" of Amitabha for benefiting all beings, a method for quickly becoming an awakened being and attaining Buddhahood.
I hope that all of you can widely propagate the scriptures, spread the Pure Land teachings, and save many sentient beings with karmic affinity to leave the suffering of this world, and chant Buddha's name to enter the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss,
which is the active practice of saving beings.
