The Essence of the Great Dharma

What is known as the Great Dharma is the supreme path that allows one to truly transcend the cycle of birth and death. It is the method that enables a practitioner to escape the three realms of existence, break free from the endless cycle of rebirth, and ultimately realise one's true nature and attain Buddhahood. This path grants one the power to be the master of one's own destiny.

When we encounter the Buddha's teachings, our individual responses and realisations vary greatly. These differences depend entirely upon our personal potential and our unique karmic affinity with the Dharma. However, if one follows the path of practice with sincerity, one will inevitably experience profound changes:

• Body-Mind-Spirit purification: The practitioner begins to cleanse the deep-seated impurities of the past.
• Spiritual elevation: One's consciousness rises above the mundane, allowing for a clearer perspective on life and death.
• Cultivation of Purity and Goodness: Through consistent effort, one becomes increasingly pure and virtuous, eventually reaching the fruit of Awakening and Buddhahood.

The Universality of the Pure Land Path

The Great Dharma is, in its highest sense, the path to becoming a Buddha. The Pure Land Dharma Gate is a vital part of this path. It is uniquely compassionate because it is designed to embrace all beings, regardless of their spiritual capacity. Whether one is of high, medium, or low potential, the light of Namo Amituofo shines upon everyone equally.

No matter what your current level of understanding may be, you can learn to embrace this teaching and receive its benefits. The greatest benefit of all is the attainment of Awakening and Buddhahood. This is the ultimate goal of every practitioner who walks the path of the Pure Land.

Returning to Your Original Nature

Your true self is your original face—the pure, luminous nature you possessed before you entered the cycle of rebirth. Because of our long journey through samsara, this original nature has been obscured by layers of pollution, much like a mirror covered in thick dust, preventing the light of the sun from reaching it.

Now that you have encountered the practice of chanting the name of Namo Amituofo, you have been given the tools to wash away these stains. By returning to this practice again and again, you undergo a process of purification that allows you to see your original face once more. This is the return to the true self.
