Pei Lü Shi, the grandmother of Sun Fengge, sought deliverance through the services at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. Having suffered through the hardships of a bygone era, she now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded on May 22, 2026.

Pei Lü Shi speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Pei Lü Shi. In the era when I lived, a woman’s name was often this simple—my husband’s surname combined with my own formed the name 'Pei Lü Shi.' It has been such a long, long time since I left the human world, so long that I have lost track of the passage of time and the events that unfolded after my departure. Those days in the human world were filled with such profound suffering; it was a bitterness so deep that I nearly forgot everything else. My heart was consumed by that single word: suffering.

Later, I arrived at the , and now, I have reached the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This series of monumental changes has allowed my heart to gradually open and brighten. I can finally kneel before the Buddha, offering my deepest prostrations and expressing the gratitude that overflows from my heart. The journey to reach this point was truly arduous. To think that I, a simple soul, could possess such tremendous to arrive in this dignified and pure Buddha-land—it is truly astonishing! I never imagined that after wandering for nearly a century, I could finally return to the Pure Land of the Buddha.

A Life Defined by Despair

When I left the human world, I did so with a mind clouded by confusion and agony. In those days, the national situation was unstable, and the environment was incredibly harsh. Overwhelmed by depression and hopelessness, I ultimately chose to end my life by jumping into a well. That tragic conclusion meant that I, a young wife and mother, was torn away from my family and everything I held familiar. Looking back now, from the perspective of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, I can see my former self and the state of my body and mind at that time. I can only say that I was not in control of myself. My entire being, every single cell in my body, was occupied by countless beings. I was suffering so intensely that I could only think of death, and even after death, I could only remember the pain. It seemed as if there was nothing in existence but suffering.

The Miracle of Deliverance

The human body is so difficult to obtain, yet at that time, I did not know how to make good use of it. Today, being able to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, I feel immense gratitude toward Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. I am deeply thankful that there is someone in this world who has realised their true nature and attained Buddhahood, providing me and so many other spirits with the opportunity to find a true home. I am also profoundly grateful to my grandson, who performed the Chao Du for me. Although he is very far away from me now, it is truly rare to have a descendant in these future generations who is so filial. He registered so many of us elders for deliverance, allowing us to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is our blessing, and it is his tremendous blessing as well!

A Message to My Grandson

I want to express my sincere gratitude to my grandson, Sun Fengge. Today, all of us elders and I are so thankful to you, and we pray that you continue on this path of learning the Buddha’s teachings. This path is different from the ordinary way of studying Buddhism. When I was in the Western -Nature Land, I spent my days in a state of constant amazement, because everything I saw there was so shocking! There were many realms I had never seen before, and I had never known that these beings existed. They poured into the Western Dharma-Nature Land one after another. Although we were in the same space, we existed on different levels. In my own space, I began to sense many things and could listen to Practitioner Su’s lectures. I learned about many truths I had never heard of before. Beyond the shock, I felt a deep sense of gratitude and .

The Truth of the Spiritual Realms

Every day was like watching a movie, observing everything happening around me, and my heart was filled with Dharma joy. So, this is what a Buddha is! I truly never knew this before. I never realised that a human being could attain Buddhahood and perform such incredible acts of saving others. This filled my heart with such joy that I felt moved to follow. If I could achieve such a state, I would also want to save many, many people, rather than ending up like my former self—stepping into the abyss alone, controlled by spirits and demon crowds until I was broken, leaving the human world with nothing to show for my life.

Cherishing the Human Body

I want to tell my juniors: please, do not be attached to this human body. Through the days I spent suffering in the spiritual realms, I have come to understand this truth. The world of the spirit is the eternal one. The spiritual realms are filled with so many beings, all of whom are suffering. Therefore, we must make good use of this human body, live in this world with a heart of gratitude, and cherish this human life. We must think of others and, if possible, do things for the benefit of all beings; that is the most blissful thing one can do. If one lives only for oneself, life is truly short and painful, and in the end, one must pay the price for everything one has done. It is simply not worth it!

Having come to know the Buddha, the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, and Namo Amituofo, you must all remain vigilant. Know why you have come to this life! It is not easy to encounter the Buddha! You must have a clear understanding of what kind of influence you can exert. Only then will you not waste this life in which you have encountered the Buddha. Finally, I sincerely wish you all well. If you have the opportunity, come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Experience this Pure Land on Earth; it will bring you unique inspiration and insights. The more you can let go of everything in the human world, the lighter and easier your life will become. I, an old woman who experienced so much pain, have now arrived in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I have no other delusions; I only want to wholeheartedly chant Namo Amituofo and follow the Buddha’s footsteps, step by step. Perhaps one day, I will realise my true nature—who knows? If that day comes, I will certainly return to the human world to save even more beings and guide them back to the Western Land. Gratitude to Namo Amituofo, gratitude to Practitioner Su.

Namo Amituofo."
