Recorded and transcribed by ’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe, on the twenty-second day of March, 2026, we present these precious teachings from Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju regarding the profound concept of fulfilling one's vows to save all beings.
To understand the path of a , we must first contemplate the meaning of the phrase 'Fulfilling Vows to Save Beings.' In this context, the term 'fulfilling' refers to the complete and perfect realisation of one's intentions. The 'vows' refer to the great, solemn promises made by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas during their initial stages of practice, when they first resolved to attain for the sake of others. Finally, 'saving beings' refers to the compassionate act of rescuing all sentient beings from their suffering.
Therefore, to 'fulfill vows to save beings' is to manifest one's original, compassionate intentions through tangible, selfless actions. It is not merely a thought held in the mind, but a living, breathing commitment that takes shape in the world to alleviate the pain of those trapped in the cycle of rebirth.
Consider the magnificent example of Namo Amituofo. When Namo Amituofo was in the stage of practice, He made the Forty-eight Great Vows, vowing to save all boundless suffering sentient beings. Because every single one of those vows has been perfectly fulfilled, the of Ultimate Bliss was established.
For the past ten kalpas, Namo Amituofo has been continuously saving immeasurable and boundless suffering beings, guiding them safely into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is the ultimate manifestation of fulfilling vows to save beings—a process that is eternal, unchanging, and infinitely compassionate.
In our current era, we see this same spirit of compassion manifesting right here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, located in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. This is a place where Namo Amituofo is truly residing. Following in the footsteps of Namo Amituofo, Practitioner Su has made great vows to save suffering beings and, with the direct assistance of Namo Amituofo, has established the .

These are all concrete, living examples of what it means to fulfill vows to save beings in this modern age.

Because of this, encountering the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre—where Namo Amituofo is truly residing—is an exceptionally rare and magnificent opportunity.
We hope that all who hear these words will cherish this moment. You must seize the opportunity while Namo Amituofo is truly residing in this world. We encourage you to:
If you commit yourself to this path with sincerity and perseverance, you will undoubtedly reap a bountiful harvest of wisdom and peace. Namo Amituofo.
