The Direct Path of Saving Beings

On the ninth of May, 2025, during the noon offering, Namo Amituofo provided these profound teachings to guide our practice. We must ask ourselves: what is the path that we must walk with unwavering focus? The answer is simple yet profound: we must go straight ahead in our mission to save all beings.

When you dedicate your life to saving others, you are simultaneously saving yourself. This is because the beings you seek to help are not separate from you; they reside within your own body. When you act for the benefit of all beings, you are directly helping the beings within our bodies. They feel your sincerity, and through your actions, they find liberation. This single moment of genuine resolution is more powerful than a thousand prayers or endless seeking.

The Power of Sincere Resolution

When you resolve to help others, you are also resolving your own internal conflicts. To have a straight heart that acts for the sake of others rather than for oneself is the key to dissolving a thousand sorrows. This is the essence of the path: to let go of and embrace the needs of all.

By doing so, you are not only helping those around you but also clearing the path for your own spiritual growth. This is the path of the true self, where we learn to let go of greed and embrace the wisdom of the Buddha-heart.

Cultivating the

What does it mean to go straight ahead? It means to embody the , , and Selfless Giving of the Buddha. We must practise these virtues in every moment:

  • Compassion: Chanting the Buddha-name with a heart that wishes for the liberation of all.
  • Joy: Chanting the Buddha-name with a heart that is filled with the happiness of the .
  • Selfless Giving: Chanting the Buddha-name with a heart that has let go of greed and is filled with gratitude and contentment.

When you chant in this way, your true self is revealed. This is how a true disciple of the Buddha returns to their original state.

the Buddha Within

As you chant, you are calling out to the Buddha. You are awakening the Namo Amituofo that resides within your own true self. By chanting with every breath, you are stopping the creation of new and allowing old karma to fade away. This is the process of saving yourself and saving the beings within our bodies.

Every sound of the Buddha-name is a call to your own true nature. When you chant with a straight heart, every aspect of your life becomes contained within the Buddha-name. When you understand the principles of the Dharma, every situation in your life will proceed smoothly.

Living Within the Buddha's Light

Do not let your heart wander from the Buddha-name. Your Buddha-vows and your Buddha-actions should not be for your own selfish gain, but for the benefit of all. When you transform your heart and your thoughts, everything becomes auspicious.

By entering the heart of the Buddha and chanting His name, you align your vows and actions with His. You walk straight ahead on the path of the Buddha. To live in the world of the Buddha is the greatest fortune for all students of the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. Namo Amituofo.
