Teachings by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju:
Scope is used to describe the size of an area, whether it is large or small, broad or narrow.
Scope is a term commonly used by people,
is for helping to reach a consensus or to express the extent of a space.
This is the subtlety of language, yet there are aspects it cannot reach.
The human heart has no limit of scope, and -nature has no scope either.
Time is scoped by the twenty-four hours of a day,
space has no scope; there is space within space, countless spaces,
and within the countless, there are more, with a number of spaces that is difficult to calculate.
The scope of one's mind-capacity can be large or small, or even infinitely large.
Those with a large mind-capacity can expand further, to infinity;
those with a small mind-capacity are like a birdcage or a container, limited to that size,
if it is infinite, it is not restricted by scope, nor is it confined,
the human heart and mind-capacity are just like this.
The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and the Western Land of Nature are both lands built from the manifestation of self-nature.
The Dharma-Nature Land has no limit of scope; space is infinite and then infinite again,
the land cannot be seen to have an end, nor will there be a situation where it is insufficient for use.
This is the subtlety and uniqueness of Dharma-nature,
just as the Ten Directions (of the Dharma Realm) have no end to their scope, able to encompass the endless and then the endless again.
The spiritual world has different levels of space,
such as the celestial realm having one to twenty-eight levels of heaven,
each level of heaven's space scope is a barrier that naturally forms space.
When the spiritual quality reaches a certain level of heaven, it automatically arrives at that level,
and it cannot enter a higher level.
This is the Universal Principles, Truth, and the Right Path, which cannot be changed or determined by human power, celestial deities, or celestial beings.
For example, in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, the scope of the four lands, three grades, and nine levels has no limit; it is infinitely large,
it is where one naturally arrives based on the being of the Western Land’s skills in chanting Buddha's name and the degree of spiritual purification,
not something that can be changed by external forces.
In the spiritual world, its scope is determined by the heart of the spirit realm beings, forming naturally.
Therefore, purification, and then more purification, is helpful for the elevation of spiritual quality,
which can increase the space and scope where the spirit resides.
This is a general characteristic.
