Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded by Venerable HaiZe on September 26, 2025.

The Interconnectedness of Buddha-lands

The lands of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas belong to different dimensions of space. However, these enlightened beings are not confined by the limitations of physical distance or boundaries. They possess the profound ability to penetrate these spaces and enter any realm they wish to visit.

Consider the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. Even though the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss lies beyond ten trillion Buddha-lands, Namo Amituofo truly abides here at this very moment. The space within the Namo Amituofo Buddhist Hall is not merely a physical structure; it is a sacred intersection of divine presence.

A Gathering of Enlightened Beings

Within the space of the Namo Amituofo Buddhist Hall at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, many holy beings are present simultaneously:

  • Namo Amituofo: The teaching master of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, who resides here to guide us.
  • Maitreya : Who has arrived here from the inner court of the fourth level of the Tushita Heaven.
  • Shakyamuni Buddha: Who has come to this place from his own Buddha-land within the worldly realm.
  • Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva: Who stand faithfully at the left and right sides of Namo Amituofo.

Wherever Namo Amituofo is present, one can also perceive the presence of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva. Whether or not one can see them depends entirely on one's own affinity and the depth of one's meditative skills. There is a distinct difference between those who can perceive this presence and those who cannot.

The Protection of the True Teachings

In a temple that upholds the True Teachings, one can also witness the presence of the Dharma protectors who safeguard the sanctity of the space:

  • Skanda Bodhisattva: The great protector who ensures the stability of the temple.
  • Sangharama Bodhisattva: Who guards the grounds and maintains the purity of the environment.

The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, where Namo Amituofo truly abides, is exactly such a place, protected and blessed by these noble beings.

The Essence of Sacred Statues

Many practitioners look upon the white jade statues of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas with their physical eyes. It is important to understand that the spirit within the white jade is the very essence and spiritual energy of the statue itself. In terms of substance, form, and function:

  • The white jade material serves as the primary medium.
  • It is carved into the distinct forms of various Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
  • These forms inspire the hearts of those who see them, helping them focus their devotion.
  • They are placed in different locations to meet the needs of sentient beings, serving as focal points for prayers, vows, and the chanting of the Buddha's name.

Ultimately, all Buddhas walk the same path. Their spiritual essence is free and at ease, fully aware of events occurring in every corner of the world.

The Communion of Response and Connection

The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are particularly attuned to matters that align with their own vows. When sentient beings with karmic affinity encounter difficulties, the Buddhas are aware of it in an instant and respond immediately. This is the communion of response and connection. Through this, they may manifest miracles, assist in resolving crises, or provide constant, invisible protection.

When Shakyamuni Buddha manifested in this world to deliver his teachings, every member of the assembly was gathered from different spaces to meet at the venue where he was lecturing. This is the absolute freedom of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. They are not bound by the constraints of our world, yet they are always here to guide us home.
