The True Meaning of Requesting the

The term Dharma refers to the methods and paths we follow in our spiritual practice. When we speak of requesting the Dharma, we are referring to the act of seeking guidance on the specific methods required for our personal cultivation. This is not merely a formal request; it is a sincere plea for the tools necessary to navigate the complexities of our spiritual journey.

Those who are qualified to be asked for the Dharma must possess three essential qualities: virtue, which is a deep foundation of moral integrity and ; spiritual achievement, which is a proven track record of successful practice and inner realisation; and insight, which is the ability to perceive the root causes of a practitioner's problems and provide the precise method needed to resolve them.

The Wisdom of No-Fixed-Dharma

As our hearts and minds shift in response to the changing external environment, the methods we employ must also be adjusted. A true practitioner with genuine skills is one who can withstand these fluctuations and provide guidance that evolves with the needs of the student. They are capable of addressing the various changes within -Mind-Spirit of those who come to seek the truth.

The experiences and processes of those who have realised their true nature are invaluable. They serve as a beacon for all of us, and it is highly recommended that you learn from them and seek their guidance. In the realm of the Dharma, there is no fixed method. True wisdom lies in the ability to see the reality of a situation clearly and to make adjustments accordingly. This is the essence of the teaching that there is no fixed Dharma.

The Path of

Those who can withstand the tests of this fluid, ever-changing reality are those who have attained the state of no-self. They are the individuals with the potential to achieve great success in their practice. Conversely, if one cannot endure the test of no-fixed-Dharma, it is often because the ego is still present. When is strong, one becomes rigid and attached to personal preferences. Such a person might feel confused or frustrated, asking, Why was it taught this way before, but now it has changed? How can we proceed if the method is not consistent?

To truly adapt to the external environment, one must let go of the self. If you hold onto your ego, you will inevitably encounter doubt and afflictions. You must learn to let go of the self to reveal a mind-capacity that can encompass all things. Only then can you accept various changes, adapt to different environments, and accommodate the diverse personalities and requirements of the people you encounter.
