The Exemplary Dedication of Practitioner Su

On the twenty-first of October, 2023, during the , Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju provided the following teachings regarding the noble work of Practitioner Su.
The Extraordinary Mission of Practitioner Su
The work undertaken by Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre is truly extraordinary and transcends the ordinary realm of human activity. His awakened manifests throughout the entire Realm, radiating the truth of his realisation. Through his profound practice, he tirelessly performs to save countless beings, helping them leave suffering behind and find the path to liberation.
While it is said that the Western Land of Dharma Nature is a gift from Namo Amituofo, in truth, it is the result of Practitioner Su’s own accumulation of merit and virtue through his dedicated efforts to save beings. It is through his compassionate guidance and management that the Centre has become a beacon of infinite light. The twelve rays of Buddha-light that descend here are powerful enough to subdue even the most persistent demonic forces.
The Unseen Struggle Against Darkness
Because of this immense light, demonic forces are filled with terror and often launch attacks against Practitioner Su. These forces attempt to inflict pain and confusion upon his physical form, targeting various parts of his body:
- His head and eyes, to cloud his perception and focus.
- His shoulders and back, to weigh down his spirit.
- His legs, to hinder his movement in the world.
- His underarms, to strike at his vital energy.
In such a dire situation, how could an ordinary physical body endure such relentless pressure? Yet, Practitioner Su bears this burden with a heart that knows no regret. He continues his work of subduing these forces without ever taking a step backward.
A Life of Unwavering
His compassion for the suffering of all beings is the driving force behind his endurance. Every single day, he works to save the demon crowds and perform Chao Du for the beings residing within the bodies of the fourfold assembly of disciples. He sleeps very little, often resting for less than two hours each night.
Practitioner Su understands clearly that because Namo Amituofo truly abides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, beings have a rare and precious opportunity to be saved and attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Therefore, he cherishes every second and every day. He keeps the Buddha-name in his heart 24/7, living as if one day were two, always vigilant and never daring to slacken in his efforts. He lives in constant fear that if Namo Amituofo were to return back to the Western Pure Land, beings would once again fall into the sea of , lost and without hope of salvation.
A Model for All Disciples
The spirit of respect and filial piety that Practitioner Su shows toward the Buddha, combined with his deep heart of protecting all life, is truly worthy of our deepest admiration. His qualities are a complete manifestation of the path:
- Compassion: A boundless love that seeks to save all beings from their suffering.
- Wisdom: A clear, penetrating insight into the nature of reality.
- Virtue: A life lived in perfect alignment with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
- Merit: The tangible results of his selfless service to the Dharma.
Every aspect of his conduct is a lesson for us all. We should strive to emulate his dedication and learn from his example as we walk the path of the Pure Land.
