The Method of Self-Salvation

Teachings by Teacher Xia Lianju:

If one wishes to achieve spiritual success in practice, in this age of the Dharma’s decline, one must achieve it through the Pure Land.

The Pure Land Dharma Gate relies on the support of both self-power and Buddha’s power.

When self-power manifests, with the assistance of Namo Amituofo, one will achieve success sooner.

Today, Namo Amituofo resides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. With the blessings of Namo Amituofo, the guidance of the Teacher, the resolution of conflicts and Chao Du performed by Practitioner Su, as well as listening to the sutras and the Dharma and the Teacher’s teachings,

these powers of Buddha’s blessings are extremely strong. However, they must be supported by self-power.

Self-power must be utilised, and one must have the awareness for self-salvation to truly resolve problems;

this is the fundamental method of cure.

The method of self-salvation begins with changing personality traits.

One must thoroughly repent for past wrongs and change until not a trace of one’s personality remains.

Because personality is cultivated from childhood and has become a part of oneself upon reaching adulthood,

and is also necessary for survival in society,

if one enters into practice, one must let go and change, changing until not a trace remains,

because personality is the greatest reason for attracting karma and the manifestation of karmic creditors. Simultaneously restraining the three karmas of body, speech, and mind and changing personality traits is the focal point for utilising self-power,

self-salvation, and diligent practice.

The fourfold assembly of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, under the great blessings of the Buddha and added self-power,

if one succeeds in changing personality traits, one will be able to see the results of practice,

especially in improving the situation of becoming drowsy and entering into space.

If, in the current situation, one’s personality is difficult to change, and anger arises inadvertently,

causing the inviolable self or arrogance to manifest,

thereby attracting the manifestation of karmic creditors again, leading to more invitations of spirits, and repeating this cycle,

one’s practice will regress.

If one wishes for the Body-Mind-Spirit to be purified and for one’s practice to progress, one must have the awareness for self-salvation.

That is, to be fiercely diligent, to save oneself as urgently as if putting out a fire on one’s head, and to put in the work to change personality traits,

rather than being sloppy or easily forgiving oneself, which makes it difficult to change personality traits and hinders practice.

Only through active self-salvation can one make a breakthrough.

Namo Amituofo, the Teacher, and Practitioner Su can remind the fourfold assembly, but the practice must rely on self-power.

At this time, self-salvation becomes especially important.

One must rouse oneself, be vigilant at all times, and not slacken.

Replacing one’s personality with chanting one Buddha's name to the end is the heart and action of a wise person.
