The process of achieving is a natural unfolding of the spirit. It is not something that can be forced, nor can it be obtained by seeking externally. Instead, it is a journey of continuous purification. As you purify your heart, you naturally drive the purification of your body and spirit. When this inner state is achieved, your true nature will naturally reveal itself.
The Natural Unfolding of Awakening
The journey toward Awakening is defined by a sequence of internal transformations. This is a natural process that requires no artificial effort or grasping. It consists of four essential stages: Sincerity, which establishes a foundation of absolute honesty with oneself and the Buddha; Purity, which clears the mind of the and the ; Equality, which allows one to view all beings and phenomena without discrimination or attachment; and finally, Awakening, the realisation of one's original, true nature.
Dimensions of the of Ultimate Bliss
The Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is a realm of perfect equality. While it is described as having four distinct lands, three grades, and nine levels, these are not barriers created by the Buddha. Rather, they represent different dimensions of existence. Your ability to enter a specific space within the Western Pure Land depends entirely on the spiritual quality of your spirit at the time of your departure from this world.
For a practitioner of the Pure Land path, the purification of the spirit and the elevation of its quality are achieved through the dedicated practice of chanting . The depth of your attainment depends on the skill you have developed in your practice. As your ability to chant Namo Amituofo becomes deeper and more refined, you will reach a state where you are chanting without the conscious thought of chanting, and where the act of chanting becomes one with your very existence.
The Manifestation of Wisdom and Equality
When you reach the state of , the wisdom of the Buddha begins to manifest. This is the moment when the equal heart truly reveals itself. In this state, there are no distinctions of high or low, superior or inferior, or right and wrong. This equality has nothing to do with your status, wealth, or social standing in the world. It is entirely determined by the natural resonance between the quality of your spirit and the corresponding realm in the Western Pure Land.
Even the beings already residing within the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss continue their practice. Their position within that realm is also determined by their ongoing spiritual progress and the quality of their spirit. This is why we call it a world of perfect equality—it is a realm that perfectly reflects the state of one's own heart.
