Words of Namo Amituofo as recorded by Venerable HaiZe
The Essence of True Wisdom
What does it truly mean to be wise? To be wise is to live in perfect harmony with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. It is to walk this path without deviation, ensuring that every thought, word, and action serves to benefit all beings. A wise person is one who is fully committed to the great work of saving others, helping them leave suffering behind and find the lasting happiness of the of Ultimate Bliss.
A wise person is willing to endure the hardships of this physical existence if it means they can perform acts of and patience. They do not shy away from the difficulties of this world; instead, they embrace them as opportunities to rescue beings from their pain and guide them toward peace and security. This is the heart of the wise—a heart that beats for the liberation of all.
Seizing the Moment for
A wise person recognises the rarity of their current circumstances. They understand that the environment they are in is a precious, fertile ground for spiritual growth. Therefore, they do not procrastinate. They seize the present moment with a sense of urgency, engaging in diligent practice to purify their body, mind, and spirit until they reach the state of Awakening.
This urgency arises from a deep understanding of the nature of reality: the world is constantly changing, and nothing remains the same. Every resource available to us now is a tool to achieve our spiritual goals. Every step taken forward is a step closer to Awakening, a step closer to liberation from the cycle of rebirth. By making the most of this time, the practitioner ensures that they are not wasting their life, but rather building a foundation for eternal peace.
The Stillness of the Mind
A wise person possesses a mind that remains undisturbed by external events. They do not give rise to anger or agitation, regardless of the situations they encounter. This is not merely a theoretical understanding; it is a lived reality. To be truly wise is to be able to remain at peace in any environment. If one knows the truth but cannot put it into practice, they remain vulnerable to the influence of negative forces. When the mind is not settled, it attracts , attached spirits, and demon crowds. If one fails to maintain this inner stillness, they will inevitably experience great suffering. Therefore, the wise practitioner ensures that their knowledge is always matched by their actions.
The Path of Right Action
When it comes to doing what is right and beneficial for all beings, a wise person acts with directness and courage. They do not retreat in the face of obstacles, criticism, or slander. Instead, they employ skillful means to ensure that all beings can receive the benefits of the . Conversely, if an action is harmful or provides no benefit to others, the wise person will stop immediately. They do not engage in any activity simply because it might be personally advantageous.
True Cultivation
A wise person deeply understands the importance of using this temporary body to find the eternal truth. They view this physical form as a vessel for spiritual elevation. They make a solemn vow to use this body for the purpose of diligent practice: prostrations, chanting Namo Amituofo, reciting the Sutras, and listening to the Dharma. In the process of this practice, will inevitably encounter various physical conditions and challenges. Overcoming these obstacles is the concrete manifestation of Faith, Vows, and Practice. This process of overcoming is, in itself, the elevation of one's spiritual quality. This inner refinement naturally radiates outward, manifesting as the conduct of a wise person. Namo Amituofo.
