Teachings from Namo Amituofo:

Beings are present everywhere throughout the entire Realm and the vastness of the Dharma Realm. They are not confined to a single location; rather, they exist in every corner of the universe. Every single being inherently possesses the original, true self. In theory, every being has the potential to become a Buddha. Yet, it is rare and difficult to encounter a Buddha or a in this world. Why is this path so precious? It is because the path to Buddhahood is the common standard for all beings throughout the entire Dharma Realm. It is a fundamental part of the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.

The Essence of Inner Practice

To walk this path, one must put in the work within one's own heart. This is the essential key. When a Buddha manifests in the world, it is solely to resolve the suffering of beings and to help them leave suffering behind. By manifesting the process of attaining Buddhahood, the Buddha teaches the public the very path they must follow. If you can understand the purpose behind the Buddha's manifestation, you will see the method for attaining Buddhahood clearly. Through Buddhist education, the Buddha teaches the public about the true self and the method of , which is the broad proclamation of the path to Buddhahood.

The Supreme Path of the

The Pure Land Dharma Gate is the supreme method for attaining Buddhahood. Among all practices, chanting the Buddha's name is the most direct and accessible path. We must understand the fundamental relationship of cause and effect:

  • Chanting the Buddha's name is the cause.
  • Attaining Buddhahood is the result.

This relationship of cause and effect remains constant, regardless of the passage of time or the movement through space. Therefore, you must ensure that every single time you chant the name of Namo Amituofo, it is not done in vain. The magnificent energy contained within the Buddha-name accumulates over time, eventually ripening into the fruit of Buddhahood.

The Six Paramitas and the Buddha-Name

Buddhism is the path of the Bodhisattva. If you wish to attain Buddhahood, you must master the Six Paramitas, which are the essential requirements for your practice:

  • Generosity: Giving of oneself and one's resources to benefit others.
  • Discipline: Upholding the to maintain a pure mind.
  • Patience: Enduring all hardships and provocations with a calm heart.
  • Diligent Practice: Advancing steadily on the path without laziness.
  • Meditation: Cultivating deep meditative concentration to steady the mind.
  • Wisdom: Developing the Prajna wisdom that sees the true nature of reality.

When these six perfections are fully realised, the Buddha's path is achieved. When you chant the six-character name of Namo Amituofo, you are simultaneously practising all six of these perfections. When you achieve the state of and the wisdom of the Dharani, you have perfected the Six Paramitas.
