Spiritual Life is Endless, Karmic Retribution is Certain
The Past and the Present
In the practice of the , we are invited to engage in the profound art of contemplation. This is not merely a superficial observation, but a deep, internal inquiry. We must learn to observe three distinct aspects of our existence: observing , observing the heart, and observing .
As you move through your daily life, you must constantly ask yourself: are your heart, your speech, and your physical actions truly in harmony with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way? This alignment is the essential foundation of all genuine spiritual progress.
A vital part of your practice is to measure the growth of your and your mind-capacity. Ask yourself if your ability to tolerate and embrace others is increasing. Have you made progress in improving the 'self,' personal ego, and selfishness that often cloud our judgment? We must strive to let go of the need to be right, the need to be heard, and the need to control others. When we release this subjective, aggressive insistence that everyone must listen to us, we allow our ego to fade into nothingness.
We must be courageous in identifying and eliminating the five poisons that hinder our path to becoming an awakened being. Have you truly begun to cut off these destructive tendencies? These include greed, anger, evil thoughts, arrogance, and doubt. These habits must be addressed with absolute sincerity.
When you interact with the world, are you gentle, honest, and willing to follow conditions? True practice is not about forcing others to accommodate your wishes; it is about following the natural flow of the universe and your own place within it.
When it comes to your own practice, remember that diligent practice should never be a source of pressure or stress. Instead, it should arise naturally from your heart. It is a manifestation of the sincere repenting and the deep sense of responsibility you feel toward yourself and all beings. When this practice comes from a place of genuine compassion, there is not a single trace of reluctance or force.
Finally, when you listen to the teachings and counseling provided by the Buddha, the masters, and Practitioner Su, you must not remain in attachment to your own views and opinions. Only by letting go of your preconceived notions can you achieve a breakthrough and realise your true nature as an awakened being.
