Spiritual Life is Endless, Karmic Retribution is Certain
The Past and the Present
The Heart-Light is the natural radiance that emanates from within the heart. It is not an external acquisition but a reflection of our inner state. As a practitioner deepens their purification, this Heart-Light becomes increasingly bright and luminous. Furthermore, as one cultivates greater , this light becomes increasingly gentle and soothing to all beings who encounter it.
Our Body-Mind-Spirit serves as a mirror, truthfully reflecting the current state of our practice. A wise person is one who can observe these conditions and make the necessary adjustments to their daily routine. By doing so, they ensure that their practice on the Buddha's path remains steady, avoiding the pitfalls of straying into wrong or biased paths.
The most vital element in this journey is the presence of a true spiritual friend. Without such guidance, it is easy for a practitioner to fall into subtle obstacles that hinder their progress. These obstacles often manifest in ways we might not immediately recognise, such as our personal emotions or our limited ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
In truth, many practitioners still find it difficult to avoid comparing themselves with others. When we look at the people and events in our external environment and measure ourselves against them, we create barriers. These comparisons obstruct our own forward momentum, hinder our progress, and dim the opportunity for our Heart-Light to shine forth.
We must remember that practice is a deeply personal endeavour. Every individual possesses different capacities and manifests different abilities at various stages of their journey. Therefore, you should strive to keep your heart stable and unmoved. Do not engage in comparisons, do not create discriminations of high or low, and certainly do not harbour jealousy. All of these negative states will only cause you harm and create unnecessary obstacles on your path.
For those who have realised their true nature, the Heart-Light is fully revealed in its pure, bright, and dazzling form. This light possesses the power to sweep away darkness and bring forth true illumination. Such individuals are constantly engaged in the process of reflecting upon themselves and repenting for their past errors, knowing that they must correct their mistakes whenever they arise.
When a practitioner is able to change and transform their personality, their Heart-Light will transform accordingly. It shifts from a state of dimness to one of increasing brightness. For those who have realised their true nature, this light becomes completely transparent and fully radiant. May all disciples take this to heart and encourage one another on this noble path.
