Recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.

On the twenty-sixth of April, 2025, during the first session, Namo Amituofo provided the following discourse:

The Waves of the Mind

When thoughts arise within your heart, they create ripples that surge like ocean tides. These mental fluctuations are not merely passing clouds; they inevitably attract your . When these creditors appear, they bring with them a fresh wave of suffering and pressure. You may ask yourself why these cycles of retribution continue to manifest. It is because you are still working to dissolve the heavy accumulated over countless lifetimes, one piece at a time. How much more of this burden can your physical body endure? Within this cycle of suffering and fleeting happiness, your heart is constantly churned by the weight of your past actions.

The Weight of Accumulated Karma

Your karma from accumulated lifetimes is profound and deep. When your mind connects with these past deeds, it draws you further into the cycle of rebirth. If you allow these karmic seeds to be stirred and manifest in the present, how can you escape the inevitable realities of ageing, sickness, and death? Whether you are wealthy or poor, whether you have achieved great fame or lived a humble life, all these worldly attachments must eventually be left behind. Can you truly take your family members or your possessions with you? In the end, all must be left behind, and you will never see them again in this form.

The Trap of the Ego

If your mind connects with the path of delusion, your personality will reflect this, and the fires of anger will ignite. If you are unable to listen to the counsel of the and transform your behaviour, the Buddha cannot enter your heart, and your spirit will remain without a true refuge. When your ego-attachment and subjective views are too strong, you place yourself above all others, becoming intolerant and rigid. By constantly creating new karma, you suffer in this physical body, and your every thought drifts further away from the wisdom of the Buddha.

Even if you are currently trapped in a state of delusion and negative actions, your original, true nature remains within you. It is like a precious gem that has been covered by dust; it is not damaged, merely obscured.

Purifying the Heart and Spirit

The purpose of your practice is to achieve purification. You must purify both your physical body and your spirit. You must learn to still your mind so that it no longer fluctuates with every passing emotion. You must stop your delusions so that your thoughts do not continue in an endless, chaotic stream. By purifying your heart, you remove the stains of defilement. By filling your every thought with the name of Namo Amituofo, you align your mind with the Buddha.

When your heart and mind are in resonance with Namo Amituofo, you are truly walking the path of Faith, Vows, and Practice. If you make a sincere vow to follow the Buddha’s path, every step you take will lead you toward the of Ultimate Bliss. By walking this path, you will eventually see Namo Amituofo face to face.
