Welcome to the fifth day of the Taiwan, Hong Kong, and World Disaster Relief and Blessing Assembly. During the noon offering, we were blessed with profound teachings from regarding the nature of our existence and the path to true .
How does life manifest? It exists only in the interplay between our environment and the present moment. Because all things arise from conditions, life itself is a manifestation of these conditions. We must understand that nothing exists in isolation; everything is part of a vast, interconnected web of cause and effect. When conditions mature, life appears; when they dissipate, life changes form. This is the fundamental truth of the universe.
Life is a spiritual function inherent in all things. Within this existence, we often carry the weight of delusion and falsehood. We wander through the cycle of rebirth, blinded by our own attachments, desires, and ignorance. We mistake the temporary for the permanent and the false for the true. However, even amidst this confusion, there remains a single, brilliant ray of light. This light resides deep within your true self, waiting to be rediscovered. It is the inherent purity that has never been tainted, no matter how many lifetimes you have spent in the six realms.
Many of you have experienced moments of spiritual movement—a sudden clarity, a moment of profound peace, or a deep, intuitive knowing. Yet, how many truly understand the meaning behind these experiences? Life is not meant to be a journey of aimless wandering. You are meant to find your way back to your true self. By understanding the pure and profound Dharma, you can uncover the true meaning of your existence. You must take responsibility for your own awakening; no one else can walk this path for you. You must be the one to realise your own true self and to unlock the wisdom that is already within you.
Do not allow yourself to remain lost in the confusion of the crowd. Do not let the external world dictate your internal state. Instead, strive to achieve a state of clear understanding and self-awakening. By turning away from the wrong paths and embracing the truth, you will find the peace you seek. Let this be your daily practice: to look inward, to purify your heart, and to walk the path of the Buddha with unwavering faith. When you finally awaken, you will see the world not as a place of suffering, but as a field of infinite potential for liberation.
