The Boundless Reach of Buddha-Light

Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.

On the twenty-sixth of April, 2026, Namo Amituofo offered these teachings: The light of the Buddhas is vast and profound. Some Buddhas shine their light across one or two Buddha-lands, while others may illuminate hundreds or thousands. However, the light of Namo Amituofo shines universally across immeasurable, boundless, and countless Buddha-lands.

This description refers to the Buddha-light emitted from and the crown of Namo Amituofo. It is an inconceivable phenomenon, yet it is an absolute reality. When Namo Amituofo was in the causal stage of practice, He made a solemn vow that the light He emitted would be capable of illuminating infinite and countless Buddha-lands. Upon attaining Buddhahood, this vow became a manifest reality.

The Twelve Radiant Names

The light within the Buddha-light and the energy contained therein are exactly what all beings require for their spiritual growth. The light of Namo Amituofo is thousands of billions of times brighter than the sun and the moon combined. It is truly the most honoured among lights and the king among Buddhas. Because of this, the Buddha of Infinite Life is also known by twelve distinct names, each representing a facet of His glorious radiance:

  • Infinite Light Buddha: His light knows no boundaries.
  • Boundless Light Buddha: His light extends to the furthest reaches of the universe.
  • Unobstructed Light Buddha: His light cannot be hindered by any obstacle.
  • Unequalled Light Buddha: His light has no peer in the ten directions.
  • Wisdom Light Buddha: His light illuminates the darkness of ignorance with perfect Wisdom.
  • Ever-Shining Light Buddha: His light is constant and never fades.
  • Pure Light Buddha: His light cleanses all defilements.
  • Joyful Light Buddha: His light brings peace and happiness to all who encounter it.
  • Liberating Light Buddha: His light guides beings to freedom from the cycle of rebirth.
  • Stable Light Buddha: His light provides a firm foundation for the mind.
  • Light Surpassing the Sun and Moon: His light is supreme and incomparable.
  • Inconceivable Light Buddha: His light transcends all human thought and logic.

Subduing Darkness and Saving Beings

Because these twelve forms of Buddha-light possess the immeasurable radiance, divine power, merits, , and Wisdom of all Buddhas, they carry a profound transformative capacity. Wherever these twelve rays of light reach, they are able to subdue demonic enemies and crush all demonic forces. They allow practitioners to receive the subtle and profound .

This is precisely why, to this day, these twelve rays of Buddha-light have successfully received and guided immeasurable, boundless numbers of beings and demon crowds into the Western Land of Dharma Nature at Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. The light of Namo Amituofo shines universally across all worlds in the ten directions, causing the defilements of beings to vanish and their Goodness to flourish, while making their bodies and minds soft, supple, and receptive to the truth.

Compassion for the Three Evil Realms

For those beings trapped in the most painful realms—the hells, the realm of hungry ghosts, or the animal realm—the arrival of Namo Amituofo’s light is a source of ultimate salvation. When these beings receive the illumination or the reception of Namo Amituofo’s light, they are blessed by the Buddha’s power. This light allows the suffering they endure to finally come to a rest.

It is through this divine grace that beings residing in the Three Evil Realms are able to find liberation and leave suffering behind at the moment of their passing. This is the very reason why, when the light of Namo Amituofo shines upon beings in the hells, it can assist them in leaving their suffering behind, guiding them away from the hells, the hungry ghost realm, or the animal realm, and leading them directly into the Western Land of Dharma Nature at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Namo Amituofo.
