The Vast Reach of the Dharma Body and the Path to Liberation
An Interview with Venerable Chang Gao
Reflections on the Practice of Deliverance
This testimony was recorded on July 28, 2019, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. Venerable Chang Gao, who sought deliverance through the compassionate guidance of Practitioner Su, shares profound reflections on the nature of the , the expansive reach of spiritual deliverance, and the urgent necessity of relinquishing worldly attachments to attain true liberation.
Venerable Chang Gao speaks:
"Stepping into the vast, boundless expanse of the heavens, I witness my Master travelling through the void. Fifty trillion Bodies are scattered across various times and spaces, each one accompanied by the radiant, golden Buddha-light and the resounding, powerful vibration of the Buddha-name, which pierces through the very fabric of the sky. The magnitude of my Master’s vow is truly unfathomable; it determines the breadth of the dimensions he can penetrate and transform, reaching into the deepest corners of existence to bring salvation to all.
The Infinite Reach of the Dharma Body
Whether it is deep within the subterranean layers, the cold bedrock, the jagged mountain walls, or the narrow, hidden crevices between them; whether it is the earth, the sand, the stones, or the myriad sentient beings—the cattle, sheep, horses, pigs, celestial beings, flowers, and grasses—or even the vast, churning oceans, the winding rivers, and the realms beyond the universe itself: wherever the Dharma Body reaches, there is a transformation, a turning of the spirit, and a receiving of the Buddha's grace. This dense, continuous work of never ceases for a single moment once the Buddha-name begins to resonate throughout the cosmos.
The Dharma Body is the fruit of my Master’s thirty years of steadfast, down-to-earth practice in this life. He has smoothed the sharp edges of his temperament and uses his own experience to guide the fourfold assembly of disciples. He deeply hopes that among the fourfold assembly, there will be those who can bring forth a sincere heart to learn. Once that sincere heart is manifested, through the combination of one's own efforts and the power of the Buddha, the true self-nature will naturally reveal itself. The Dharma Body is but a part of this true self-nature. It is something everyone possesses, yet most people are lost in this world, clutching tightly to things for fear of loss, loneliness, or being ignored.
The Illusion of Worldly Attachment
This clinging happens because people do not see far enough, or perhaps because they lack a sense of security. They want to grasp onto the people and things they believe belong to them, but all worldly things will eventually be lost. It is far more important to elevate one's own spirit. Every sentient being in the universe has people they care about, and they, too, have once clung tightly to them. After the soul and the physical body shatter, they scatter throughout the universe, becoming the myriad things, becoming the very beings who are in need of deliverance.
The Buddha reveals the truth of how one becomes the myriad things. Under the laws of and cause and effect, no one can escape unless they truly awaken, cease all attachment, and let go of the concept of 'self' to follow the Buddha. The karmic debts of past lives must still be repaid. In this universe, the connections between individuals are all accumulated over countless lifetimes. Unless one party is willing to let go, the interconnected relationships—whether they be of romantic love or deep-seated resentment—will continue to exist. My Master assists Chang Gao and others in repaying these debts of past lives. Once you understand these truths, you will no longer wish to linger in this world.
A Heart of Gratitude and
Namo Amituofo resonates with those who are truly willing to depart from this cycle of suffering. There is no greed here, only gratitude and contentment. From what I have seen—ranging from the Four Sacred Realms and the vast world to the myriad forms of life and even the hells—everyone still holds onto their attachments and their sense of 'I'. Once you cast aside everything and sincerely vow to save the world, you need not fear that you will not encounter the true Buddha. The Buddhas are always mindful of one another, and it is through this that all things arise. I am deeply grateful for the Buddha’s guidance and for my Master’s profound explanation of these truths.
Namo Amituofo."
