Spiritual Life is Endless, Therefore One Must Be Careful in Speech and Action
When you engage in your practice, it is essential that your knowledge and your actions advance in perfect harmony. This is what we call the unity of knowing and doing. Your understanding must never depart from the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. When you conduct yourself according to these sacred standards, you align your life with the . As a result, you will naturally be shielded by benevolent spirits and the Dragon and Heaven Dharma Protectors.
Should you encounter obstacles along your journey, the support of these protectors will help you transform danger into safety with ease. Because the True Teachings operate throughout the vastness of the Dharma Realm, your progress will be unimpeded. In this state of unobstructed movement, you should continue forward with a steady and focused heart.
As you chant the Buddha-name, you are constantly immersed in the presence of . Through this, you receive the Buddha's . Even in spaces that are invisible to our physical eyes, you can perceive the Buddha-light shining everywhere. The energy contained within this Buddha-light is profound and transformative:
To access this power, you must possess absolute faith in the Buddha, and you must also have faith in yourself. When your heart is firm and unwavering, the very act of chanting the Buddha-name naturally manifests its immense merit and majestic power. This power is sufficient to subdue any demonic beings or external obstacles that seek to hinder your path.
This is precisely why a practitioner of the True Teachings is so effectively protected and assisted by the Buddha. By chanting the Buddha-name, you naturally become filled with the Buddha's and wisdom. Consequently, your path forward remains clear, and your practice encounters no obstructions.
However, consider the situation of a practitioner whose faith is not yet firm. If you believe in yourself more than you believe in the Buddha, you must ask yourself: as a being still burdened by , how much strength or merit do you truly possess to overcome the complex spells and dark influences of demonic beings? If you rely solely on your own limited power, the result will often be that you fall under the control of these external forces, losing your ability to act with autonomy.
If you have faith in the Buddha but your faith in your own potential is weak, your own power will be insufficient to move forward. If your chanting of the Buddha-name lacks conviction, even if the Buddha wishes to bestow blessings upon you, it becomes difficult for you to fully absorb the energy of the Buddha-light or the majestic power of the Buddha-name. Therefore, in your practice, you must hold fast to two pillars of faith:
When these two powers support one another, you will be able to receive the Buddha's blessings in their entirety. You will fully absorb the energy of the Buddha-light and the majestic power of the Buddha-name, allowing you to move forward without resistance and ensuring that your practice remains completely unimpeded.
