The Living Landscape of the

As I cast my gaze across the horizon, the lines of the mountain ranges are of an exquisite beauty, possessing a gentle elegance that carries a profound, rhythmic grace. The mountain mists drift through the peaks, bestowing upon the landscape a fresh and ethereal charm. In the blink of an eye, a scene of serene beauty unfolds: a small bridge, a flowing stream, and a peaceful dwelling. The water is so crystalline that one can clearly see the fish swimming within. As the gentle current glides over the smooth stones, the water plants sway their bodies in a rhythmic dance, as if greeting the world with the sacred name, Namo Amituofo. The flowing water responds in kind, and the small pebbles and fish in the stream join in a gentle, harmonious chanting of the holy name of Namo Amituofo. Every place the water touches, the sound flows continuously, resonating throughout the entire valley.

In an instant, the world is transformed into a kaleidoscope of brilliant colours, radiating a magnificent and dazzling light. Every flower, blade of grass, and tree emitted massive golden light and shook the very earth. The sacred name of Namo Amituofo is heard without ceasing. Such a miraculous sight truly shakes my heart to its core. Then, I return to the rain of Mandarava flowers, which are pure, white, and luminous, accented by shades of mysterious black, golden yellow, vermilion, and deep purple. The beauty is beyond description. I sit within the Orchid Pavilion, my brush moving with ease and freedom, capturing the entire landscape upon paper. I add a single, essential phrase: Know kindness and repay kindness. I wish to repay the kindness of Namo Amituofo, the kindness of Practitioner Su, and the kindness of all sentient beings.

The Vow to Repay Kindness

What virtue or merit do I, Puchu, possess to have arrived in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss? I cherish every moment of my existence here, gazing intently at every detail of this magnificent scenery. Day after day, I sit beneath the throne of Namo Amituofo to listen to sutras and hear the Dharma. The atmosphere is incomparably solemn and magnificent. I have never experienced such in all my previous lives. This is a realm of ultimate bliss where every wish is fulfilled; it is truly unique and unparalleled. The vast heart and great capacity of Namo Amituofo fill me with deep admiration for the Buddha’s virtues. In the midst of such stillness and joy, I cannot bear to enjoy it alone.

Far away, at the other end of the universe, are the suffering beings trapped in a sea of fire. Their cries of pain and sorrow fill the pits and valleys, and batch after batch of beings are sent there without pause. How could it be that the destination for so many beings is to be united in the hells? The tortures of the hells are not worth experiencing for anyone. Please know that the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is waiting for your return.

The Contrast Between Suffering and Bliss

To the people of the world, I say this: everything you currently enjoy—whether it be the beautiful scenery or the finest delicacies—does not possess even a fraction of the magnificence of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. The gold, silver, and jewels you wear cannot compare to a single grain of golden sand in the West. The happiness you feel in the world is not even a shadow of the selfless bliss of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Everything in the world falls short of the beauty of the West. The beauty of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is truly worth your return.

You must let go of the attachments you hold so tightly in your hands. Under the guidance and teaching of Namo Amituofo, you must readjust your life. A corner of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss exists right here in the world, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, where Namo Amituofo truly abides and all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas provide their protection. I earnestly invite all of you, with your great virtues, to come and experience this for yourselves. Your life will be transformed, gaining a new, magnificent, and solemn atmosphere. I am here in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, waiting for your return.

This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Shi Fajing.
