A Father's Journey to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss
An Interview with the Late Lay Practitioner Lin Jinzi
Recorded by the Chief Writer, Shi Fajing, on April 26, 2024
This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Lin Jinzi, the father of Lin Zhiming and Lin Zhihua, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the cycle of rebirth to the pure realm of the Buddha. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on April 26, 2024.
Lay Practitioner Lin Jinzi speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Lin Jinzi. I kneel before the Buddha in deep repentance, offering my sincerest apologies to all the beings I have harmed throughout my life. It is only through the great of Practitioner Su, who used his to reach out and guide me, that I have been able to arrive safely and smoothly at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Here, I have finally had the opportunity to behold Namo Amituofo. As I kneel before the Buddha, I cannot stop the tears of repentance from flowing, nor can I cease my expressions of gratitude toward Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su."
The Weight of Attachment
"Only now, in this state of clarity, do I realise how deeply attached I was to the world. After my physical body had passed away, I remained trapped in a dimension of my own making. It was as if I were still alive, continuing to live out my daily routines in a state of confusion, completely unaware that my life in the human world had already ended. I was lost in a space of my own attachments, unable to wake up, and with no way to escape that cycle on my own.
It was only recently that Practitioner Su reached into that dark space and pulled me out. I was rescued. This is why I am so profoundly grateful to Practitioner Su; he is my greatest benefactor. Today, he has even sent me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I truly do not know how I could ever repay such a debt of kindness. I only hope that my children will understand and help me express my gratitude to the Buddha. The best way to show this gratitude is to study the Buddha’s teachings diligently and assist Practitioner Su in propagating the . This is what Practitioner Su desires most of all."
The Compassion of a Busy Life
"While I have been here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre listening to the sutras, I have watched Practitioner Su every single day. He is always so incredibly busy. Yet, the things he is busy with are never for himself; they are entirely for the sake of all beings. He is constantly working to help others and finding ways to ensure that the Buddha’s teachings are spread far and wide. Only when the Dharma is propagated, and more people come to recognise the truth of the Buddha’s teachings and understand the benefits of practising, can more people be saved.
Practitioner Su’s heart is filled with such immense compassion. Every day, as I watch him work so tirelessly, I feel a deep sense of shame and repentance within my own heart. Especially when I am in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I can see my . They are still waiting for me in that dark space—there are so many of them. I feel so sorry for them, and I am filled with such regret. I keep begging the Buddha to save them, but they are just as attached as I once was. They are waiting for me to appear again so they can seek their revenge. Now, I kneel before the Buddha and pray: as long as they are willing to let go, I beg the Buddha to save them. I do not want them to continue suffering like this any longer."
A Father's Final Plea
"After spending this time here, I feel that I have changed significantly. I no longer have any lingering thoughts or attachments to the human world. I also want to offer counseling to my children: do not think too much. You are all very prone to overthinking, and you are not getting any younger. Do not let your minds wander into unnecessary worries. It is far more important to focus on chanting Buddha's name. Do not end up like me, where, once your final breath is gone, you are left unable to do anything at all. I was incredibly fortunate that Practitioner Su was there to save me, but I do not know if my children will be so lucky as to wait for Practitioner Su to save them.
I hope my children will be wise, study the Buddha’s teachings with sincerity, and make it their goal to reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss in this lifetime. I am here, waiting for you. Namo Amituofo."
