A Grandfather's Deliverance to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss
An Interview with the Spirit of Lay Practitioner Chen Zhendong
Recorded by Chief Writer Shi Fajing on January 12, 2024
This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Chen Zhendong, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the human world, recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on January 12, 2024.
Lay Practitioner Chen Zhendong speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I wish to send a message of peace to my family: I have arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am doing very well now—every single day here is wonderful.
I am filled with gratitude for the compassionate Practitioner Su, who guided my spirit to this Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. To be honest, I was initially hesitant about whether I should come. I still held onto thoughts of my family and felt reluctant to leave them behind. However, after seeing so many others arriving one by one, and after listening to the talks given by Practitioner Su, I realised just how magnificent this Western Land truly is. It was only then that I made the firm decision to come here.
The Moment of Transition
After I breathed my last, I did not immediately realise that I had passed away. I truly believed I was still at home. Sometimes I would sit in my favourite chair, and other times I would wander around the house. I stayed there for quite a while, not going anywhere else. Then, I heard a voice calling out to me. I looked up and saw a brilliant, immense golden light. At first, I did not want to stand up; I still wanted to linger in my home. But then, that light simply drew me in, and I was effortlessly carried away from my house.
The person who called out to me was Practitioner Su. I did not know who Practitioner Su was at the time, but I could clearly see that he is a truly great person. In particular, Practitioner Su bears a striking resemblance to the Buddha; he must be a Buddha who has appeared in this world to save us.
Purification in the Western Land of Dharma Nature
Here at the centre, there is a place called the Western Land of Dharma Nature. Every day, I see the Buddha, and every day, the Buddha-light shines upon me, continuously purifying my spirit. I see so many people here, and they are all chanting Namo Amituofo. It is incredibly pure and peaceful.
When I think of my family in the human world, I see that they are still living as they always have; there has been little change in their lives. I heard Practitioner Su calling out the name of my granddaughter, Liqing. It must be that my granddaughter saved her grandfather. She is such a good, filial child. My children and the younger generation in our family have always been kind to me, but it is a great pity that they have not yet truly come to know the Buddha.
A Final Message to My Family
I sincerely hope that all my family members will begin to study the Dharma. Only the Buddha can truly save us. Just as I was trapped in that space, it was only through the power of the Buddha that I could be brought out to safety.
I am doing very well now, so please, all of you, set your hearts at ease. Live your lives well and chant Namo Amituofo every day. If you do this, I will be able to rest in complete peace.
With deepest respect, Chen Zhendong. Namo Amituofo."
