This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Zheng Aizhu, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her life and her journey to the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on January 17, 2025.
Lay Practitioner Zheng Aizhu speaks:
". I am Zheng Aizhu, and I have now arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Being here has completely washed away every trace of pain and suffering I once knew; there is nothing left but a vast, all-encompassing brilliance. I am filled with such profound gratitude to the Buddha, to Practitioner Su, and to every single person who extended a helping hand to me during my time of need.
Looking back on my life, I find that I have very few complaints about the people I met or the circumstances I encountered. In my younger years, my elders taught me to live my life with integrity and to walk a steady, honest path. I took those words to heart, and I did my best to live by them every single day. I have come to realise that whatever happens to us in this life is already destined, so there is truly no point in harbouring resentment or bitterness."
"I did not lecture my children with many words; instead, I simply lived my life as an example for them to follow. Life is inevitably filled with setbacks and trials, but I always believed that if you can endure the difficult moments with patience, you will find that they are merely opportunities for growth. If you choose to focus on the positive aspects of any situation, you will find that every experience becomes a lesson worth learning. This is the most important truth I wish for my descendants to understand.
While I may not have possessed vast academic knowledge, I have shared my life experiences with my children and grandchildren, hoping that they might glean some wisdom from my journey. Above all else, I want them to know that being a kind, honest, and upright person is far more valuable than any amount of wealth one could ever accumulate in this world."
"The words I am speaking now are my final message to this world, and so I hope they carry some meaningful guidance for my descendants. Now that I have said all that I needed to say, I will remain here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, following Namo Amituofo and learning diligently.
Since arriving in this magnificent realm, the brilliant light before me has expanded my heart in ways I never thought possible. The events of my past, which once seemed so significant, have now become so small—so small that they are almost invisible. Here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, we care only for our spiritual elevation. The things that happened to our physical bodies in the past no longer matter at all. Witnessing this truth has finally taught me how to truly let go of everything.
Do not be overly calculating in your lives, and do not cling so tightly to the things of this world. Think about it—everything here is so fleeting; in the blink of an eye, it is all gone."
"The Wisdom of the Buddha is infinitely vast and profound. If you follow the Buddha and study with a sincere heart, you too can attain this wonderful Wisdom. What is most important in this life is to seek liberation from the cycle of rebirth. I hope that all of you can come to understand this. This is the final gift I leave for my descendants, and I truly hope that each of you will take the time to deeply contemplate these words.
Namo Amituofo. With folded palms, Zheng Aizhu."
