A Journey to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner He Guannan, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition and his message to his family. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on May 30, 2025.

Lay Practitioner He Guannan speaks:

"My dear son and daughter, your father has now arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss of Namo Amituofo. Perhaps in the past, you were not entirely clear about what this world truly is. But let me tell you, my children: this world is real. It is a place of absolute existence, and for the many who arrive here, the cycle of suffering finally comes to an end. They no longer have to endure the hardships of the world we once knew.

The Joy of Deliverance

For those who have the Causal Conditions, and for those who are just about to have the Causal Conditions to arrive in this Western Land, I feel such immense joy for them. I have always harboured a wish that there could be less suffering in the world. When I hold this thought in my heart, I see the face of the Buddha. I feel that in my past lives, I must have had a deep connection with the Buddha, for this place feels strangely familiar to me, as if I have returned home after a very long journey.

My daughter, I must say 'thank you' to you. Thank you for making it possible for your father to be here, bathed in this infinite light. It is only now that I truly realise that the light where the Buddha resides is eternal; it will never fade, and it will never disappear.

A Vision of Golden Light

Everything here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss moves me to my core. I truly hope that every person with a kind heart will have the opportunity to see the Buddha just as I have. In this realm, when I look up at the sky, I see that it is filled with brilliant golden light. It reminds me of the times when I still possessed a human body. I remember looking up at the sky during the lowest points of my life, facing the most crushing despair. Yet, whenever a single thought of self-belief arose, I was able to break through the many tests and difficulties of reality.

The Path to Liberation

What I want to say to my children and all my descendants is this: you must believe in yourselves. But remember, true belief must be anchored in a kind heart. Only through genuine goodness can you navigate through any difficulty that life throws your way. It is the only way to ensure you can overcome the obstacles of this world.

Many of our family members and descendants share a deep connection with the Buddha. Please, always remember to keep the Buddha in your heart. The Buddha will be that bright lamp, guiding you toward the light. If you follow this path, you will gradually move toward the Buddha's path and eventually reach true liberation. Namo Amituofo—this is the greatest blessing I can give to all of you.
