A Long-Awaited Return to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

Lay Practitioner Ling Mingde, the father of Lay Practitioner Ling Qixia, sought deliverance through the compassionate guidance of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Having transitioned from the Western Land of Dharma Nature, he now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded on March 6, 2026, by the chief writer, Fa Ning.

Lay Practitioner Ling Mingde speaks:

"Ha! The day has arrived so quickly. I have been waiting for this moment in the Western Land of Dharma Nature—the day I would finally be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Although my spirit has long since ceased to suffer, the thought of being reborn in the Buddha-land established by Namo Amituofo, where I can truly and firmly be with the Buddha, brings such peace to my heart. It is a feeling of having a profound, unbreakable connection with the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

A Journey Through Samsara

Now that I am here, looking back at my many lives throughout the cycle of rebirth, I realise that I have actually been to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss many times before! I am a being who has come from the West, yet I have wandered through the six realms of existence for who knows how long, suffering for aeons, until today. It is through the Causal Conditions created by my child that I have been able to reconnect with the Buddha. Ha! You wouldn't have imagined that, would you? My dear child has also begun to practise the Buddha’s teachings. The education I failed to provide you as a father has been more than compensated for by your dedication to the Dharma. You have learned what it means to find a true home, and you have come to understand the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. You now realise that we were all once lost, wandering without a destination. It was only because we encountered the Buddha and were granted the opportunity for Chao Du that we finally found our home and a chance for rebirth.

The Grace of Practitioner Su

Today, I set off with a light and joyful heart. In a single instant, I was guided by the Dharma Body of Practitioner Su into the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. A new chapter has begun—a life dedicated to learning the Buddha’s teachings. While I was in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I heard many of the sutra lectures delivered by Practitioner Su. Only then did I realise that Practitioner Su possesses the incredible skill to freely travel to and from the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Yet, Practitioner Su always remains so humble and modest, saying, 'You can do it too! If you can just let go of everything, you can achieve this as well!' Hearing this, I couldn't help but feel a sense of shame. I have no such skills myself; I simply did a few good deeds while I was alive in the human world. It was the good karmic connection I forged with the Buddha that has allowed me to shine so brightly today.

A Father’s Final Guidance

I, Ling Mingde, know that all of this is hard-won, and I cherish it deeply. Watching the heart of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, who save the world with such equality and compassion, I think to myself that I, too, will one day become a Buddha—it is only a matter of time. I want to say this to my child, Qixia: what you can do right now is to help more people come to know 'Namo Amituofo' and the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Tell everyone that there is an exit from the suffering of life! My child, you still possess a human body; you must continue to do good deeds. No matter where it is, as long as it is for the benefit of others and helps people understand the Buddha, you must go straight ahead and do it.

I have no more worries now. You have already come to know the true Buddha’s teachings, which is a tremendous blessing—far greater than anything I had. I hope you will listen to the sutras and cultivate yourself well. Soon, you too will have a day where you are close to the Buddha!
