A Mother's Journey to the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Lu Wang Yuying, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from a life of relentless toil to the eternal peace of the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on August 13, 2021.

Lu Wang Yuying speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Lu Wang Yuying. My dear Lianzi, you have always been such a thoughtful and considerate daughter. You have always cared so deeply for our home and kept a watchful eye on every detail of our lives. You are a truly filial child, and as your mother, I feel such immense joy to have a daughter like you. I know you watched me struggle through the years, working myself to the bone every single day just to keep our family afloat. It was a constant cycle of labour, but thank goodness, I managed to raise all of you children to adulthood. Being a woman and a mother is such a heavy, exhausting burden to carry."

The Burden of Constant Toil

"Do you know that even after I passed away, I was still caught in that same cycle? I had become like a bee, buzzing around, forever working—it sounds so foolish now when I look back on it. I am so deeply grateful to you for saving me and bringing me to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. When I first arrived at the temple, I suddenly found that there was nothing left for me to do. I truly did not know how to handle it! I even felt an urge to find tasks to occupy my hands. I had become so accustomed to the grind of life that when it suddenly stopped, it felt so strange to simply be still."

"However, after spending time at the temple, I began to practise by chanting Namo Amituofo along with the others. The more I chanted, the more my heart began to open up. It was no longer bound by the heavy, suffocating worries that had held me captive for so long. I used to feel so weak and drained of all energy, but now I feel so much better. I owe all of this transformation to the kindness of everyone at the temple."

A Family Reunion in the Western Pure Land

"Lianzi, since being here, I have witnessed people departing every single day for the brilliant, radiant Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo is right there before our very eyes! It took me some time to fully comprehend what was happening here, but you must continue to follow the path of this temple. Everything they do here is for the sake of goodness—especially the way they saved me, your father, and your brother. It was your father who made the final decision that we should all go to the Western Pure Land together. He told us, 'You have worked so hard to invite the temple to save us; we must not let you carry any more worry in your heart. If we are going, we are all going together.' That is why he insisted that your brother join us as well."

"We have all arrived in the Western Pure Land now. Seeing the Great Compassionate Namo Amituofo has brought such profound peace to my heart, and my spirit feels so much lighter and healthier. I am now practising how to keep a smile on my face at all times. This place is filled with such wonderful, heavenly fragrances, and it is so incredibly beautiful. You can finally set your heart at ease and stop worrying about us!"

A Final Message of Gratitude

"Both your father and I are filled with gratitude for Practitioner Su, who guided us to the Western Pure Land. Please, on our behalf, offer our deepest thanks to Practitioner Su for this life-changing deliverance. I am here waiting for you, my dear daughter. You must continue to chant Namo Amituofo with all your heart, and one day, we will be reunited in the Western Pure Land. Namo Amituofo."
