From the moment a person is born, they begin a steady, unceasing march toward death. There is not a single moment when this process pauses. Within the limited span of this physical life, how can one make the most of their time? The answer lies in using this temporary, false body to cultivate the true nature.
You must ensure that your physical body is not exploited by those who wish to lead you astray. This includes:
Instead, you must use this temporary vessel to nurture your spiritual growth and elevate the quality of your spirit. Through diligent practice, you can purify your —the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind—again and again. By transforming into wisdom, you will eventually realise your true nature and find what is real.
You must awaken your awareness and recognise the preciousness of this human body. Do not squander it lightly. If you waste this opportunity, you risk losing the chance to engage in true cultivation, to reach , and to leave suffering behind to be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss.
Awaken your awareness and recognise that attachment to your own body and your own views are the greatest obstacles to your practice. These attachments are like massive boulders blocking your path; they prevent you from seeing the way forward. Only when you have the courage to move these boulders aside can you clearly see the path ahead and continue your journey.
If you are truly awake, you will realise that if your practice is still centred on , then you have selfishness. Where there is selfishness, it is difficult to make progress. This is because when your thoughts are filled with the self and personal gain, you will inevitably attract the interference of karmic creditors, attached spirits, and demon crowds. You must practise with diligence, letting go of the self entirely. Only when you are selfless can your practice truly advance.
Awaken to the areas where you are still lacking: perhaps your is insufficient, your wisdom has not yet opened, your mind-capacity is narrow, or you lack a spirit of tolerance. If you cannot tolerate the faults of others, or if you cannot appreciate the goodness in others, you will find yourself trapped. When you see others succeeding or doing well, if you allow jealousy to arise, you are only creating obstacles for your own spiritual growth.
To awaken and act, you must:
If you possess a sense of oneness, you will understand that the growth of others can also help you grow.
Awaken your awareness, for this is the foundation of Faith, Vows, and Practice. It is the Vow that acts as the guide, giving your practice the strength it needs to be effective. Purification is the very reason your awareness can be elevated.
For the practitioner, chanting Namo Amituofo 24/7 is the most wonderful method to maintain constant purification and elevate your awareness. When the Buddha-name becomes a continuous, flowing stream that never stops, you are truly on the path to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
