Awakening from the Veils of Illusion

When are you truly awake, and when are you merely dreaming? When do you truly realise the truth, and when are you lost in confusion? Can you truly perceive the state of your own heart? The world is filled with illusory phenomena that never cease. Scene after scene passes before your eyes, yet these are but dreams within dreams, illusions within illusions. You drift from one state of confusion into another, sinking deeper into a slumber from which it is difficult to wake.

The Echoes of Past Deeds

Why must you endure the cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death? It is to repay the debts incurred by the laws of karma and cause and effect. The disputes, the grievances, and the affections of this life pass before you like fleeting shadows. Your life is like a candle in the wind, flickering until it is extinguished. Once this life passes, you leave behind the seeds for your next existence. When you listen to the sutras and hear the Dharma, you must realise it is time to wake up.

The Radiant Path to the Western Pure Land

If you wish to find the truth, you must engage in diligent practice. To achieve this, you must focus on the following:

• Resolve your conflicts with karmic creditors through sincere repentance and compassion.
• Perform Chao Du to help these beings find peace and liberation.
• Never cease in your chanting of Namo Amituofo, keeping the Buddha's name at the centre of your heart.
• Learn to 'see through' and 'let go' of the attachments that bind you to this world.
• Cultivate compassion in all your actions, ensuring your heart is aligned with the Dharma.

When your heart truly awakens, your character will transform. Only then, by realising your true nature, can you truly wake up and enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This teaching was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
