Awakening from the Dream of Samsara: An Interview with Master Yongjia
Teachings on the Vastness of the Heart and Capacity
Recorded on October 31, 2020
The Illusion of the Dream
In the realm of dreams, one clearly perceives the six realms of rebirth, yet upon , one realises that the vast universe is empty and void. Most people in this world remain lost in these illusions, unaware that they are asleep. They continue to cycle through the endless cycle of rebirth, trapped within the Five Turbidities and Evil World. This world is like a grand stage where countless dramas are performed, and yet, the actors within them remain unable to wake up. If one has not yet awakened, how can one find the path to clarity? The Buddha’s teachings serve as the ultimate guide, acting as a wake-up call to those who are still dreaming.
The Path to True Awakening
Practising the Buddha’s teachings is both simple and profound; it depends entirely on how much of your dream you are willing to let go. The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is not a distant place, but a state of the heart. When your heart is as clear and luminous as your original nature, you will see your true self. Throughout history, how many have been urged to wake up? And yet, how many have truly become clear-minded? At Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, we lead the masses toward the West through the magnificent work of . Every session of deliverance is a rescue mission for those lost in the dream, helping them to understand the laws of and cause and effect and to resolve their karmic debts.
The Inconceivable Power of Deliverance
Practitioner Su, through his , manifests in countless forms, inviting all to gather in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. His spiritual power moves heaven and earth, and our compassionate father, Namo Amituofo, welcomes all with open arms. When Practitioner Su raises his hand, the holy assembly of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, along with the protectors who assist in this great work, disperse across the sky. They traverse into various dimensions and spaces, pouring the Buddha-name into every corner with lightning speed. As these spaces are unlocked and dissolved, countless beings emerge, chanting the name of Namo Amituofo. Throughout the entire deliverance, the thunderous sound of the six-character Buddha-name never ceases.
Clearing the Ancient Spaces
Master Yongjia has been stationed at Changbai Mountain, overseeing the surrounding streams and the entire space. The golden light of the Buddha permeates every corner of the mountain range. The sound of the Buddha-name stirs the flowers, trees, animals, mountain walls, stones, and the winding paths of the streams. Even the smallest creatures in the crevices, the mountain deities, their followers, and the immortals who have been practising in the mountains are touched by the Buddha’s light. Those who were obsessed with their practice, as well as the families of animals and humans who lived there throughout the ages, all emerge together. Guided by the Buddha-name, they enter the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, the heavenly realms, or the human world, according to their capacity. Some of these spirits have been trapped in the mountain for millions of years, while others are victims of more recent tragedies. Regardless of the time, all are liberated by the power of the Buddha-name.
The Legacy of the Great Wall and Beyond
After the deliverance at Changbai Mountain, Master Yongjia travelled to the Great Wall of China. This site is filled with the remnants of ancient wars. In many dimensions, the battles still rage, with layers upon layers of different dynasties fighting for control. Many of the workers who built the wall are still trapped within the very stones they laid. A single brick can contain countless spirits. Through this deliverance, an uncountable number of beings have finally found their way out. Following this, Master Yongjia visited Xinjiang, where the spirits of cattle, sheep, horses, and the grains of sand in the desert were all liberated. The illusory spaces formed by the shifting sands were dissolved, benefiting all beings regardless of their era.
A Call to Return to the Pure Land
Every week, during the , Master Yongjia relies on the compassionate vow of Practitioner Su to open these spaces and lead a vast number of spirits to liberation. This requires the sincere heart of Practitioner Su in the human world, allowing us in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss to respond and assist. Because of this deliverance, Master Yongjia can save those with whom he has a karmic affinity. He is deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue this work from the Western Land. The sincerity of those in the human world who follow the Buddha’s vows is truly inconceivable. In these times of great change, as the pandemic arises in response to the collective human heart, Practitioner Su uses the chanting of the Buddha-name to adjust the magnetic field of the entire space. The purification brought about by every single Buddha-name is beyond measure. We join Practitioner Su in this work, counselling the spirits involved in this disaster so that the chaos may gradually subside and all may return to a state of purity. The merit of these Dharma assemblies is truly inconceivable. Without the daily morning deliverance and the weekly ceremonies, the world would remain in chaos. In this age of the Dharma’s decline, the great Dharma has appeared in the world, and the Pure Land abides among humanity. May all those who are dreaming wake up and return to the Pure Land of Namo Amituofo. The merit generated by the fourfold assembly at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is immense, and all the spirits are deeply grateful. To practise sincerely and with a true heart in this magnificent place is the most important task of all.
