Children, Wake Up from the Dream

Words of Namo Amituofo, as recorded by Venerable HaiZe.
My children, when will you finally realise your true nature and awaken from this long, weary dream? How much longer will you remain lost, drifting through a life defined by suffering, confusion, and the relentless cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death? You are constantly within this dream, living your days as if they were permanent, yet you remain asleep to the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
The Peril of the Deep Sleep
You often find yourselves in a dream within a dream, sleeping so soundly that you have forgotten your original home. If you are not called upon to wake up, and you encounter a dead end within this dream, you will lose the precious opportunity to meet the Buddha and attain liberation in this lifetime. Once this chance is squandered, when will you ever find the strength to wake up again?
My children, you must understand that every scene you encounter in this dream is entirely illusory. Do not be deceived by these fleeting visions. You have already lost sight of your true self; do not allow yourselves to lose your and your Wisdom as well. If you are led astray by these illusory realms, you will be left with nothing.
The Nature of the Illusory World
Everything within this illusion is subject to constant change. It is governed by Causal Conditions:
- When conditions mature, things gather together. When conditions dissipate, things fall apart.
Everything eventually becomes a memory of the past, leaving behind only the seeds of cause and effect to continue the dream in the next life. If you continue to weave your life from these threads, when will you ever truly wake up?
The Path of the Wise Practitioner
Only those who practise the truth while still in the dream, who learn from the Buddha and seek to recover their true self, can be called wise. The Buddha or will enter your dreams to save you, guiding you to practise and leave these illusions behind. Although you are still in the dream before you realise your true nature, if you can develop the awareness to know that you are in an illusion, you will naturally yearn for the truth.
This is why you must be fiercely diligent in your practice:
- Wash away the dust and impurities you have accumulated in this illusory world.Refuse to enter into these false realms again.Cease the contamination of your .
Only by doing this can you finally see your original, true self.
The True
Recovering your true self is the moment of Awakening. Even while you remain in the dream, you will know it for what it is. You will no longer be deceived by the scenery, and you will use the dream itself to perform the work of the Buddha, helping other beings in the dream to wake up as well. Some of you may think you are already awake, or perhaps you know you are dreaming but are unwilling to wake up. You may prefer to remain submerged in the cycle of rebirth, passing through lifetime after lifetime in a state of slumber.
For all beings currently caught in the cycle of rebirth, in the eyes of the Buddha, you are all dreamers, each lost in your own unique dream. A practitioner is one who knows they are dreaming and desires to wake up, yet has not yet fully emerged from the sleep. A truly awakened one is a person who has realised their true nature and attained Buddhahood. They know the dream, they are no longer deceived by it, and they have left the dream behind. If they enter the dream again, it is only to save the beings who are still lost within it.
Now, my children, as you exist within this dream, ask yourselves: Are you truly awake, or are you still dreaming? Are you one who knows the dream and seeks to wake up, or are you one who knows the dream but still chooses to remain in the cycle of rebirth?
