Expanding Your Mind-Capacity to Extend Your Pure Land

On the seventeenth of October, two thousand and twenty-five, during the midday offering, Namo Amituofo provided the following discourse:

The Boundless Horizon of the Heart

The size of your Pure Land is determined by the capacity of your heart. If your mind-capacity is boundless, your Pure Land can extend infinitely, without any borders or limitations. When your heart is vast, it encompasses all of existence, allowing your spiritual domain to flourish in harmony with the truth of the universe.

Conversely, those with a small mind-capacity cannot tolerate the faults of others. They become trapped in a narrow perspective, focusing only on their own immediate needs and desires. They remain unmoved by the advice or guidance of others, failing to consider the situations or needs of those around them. This is a state of selfishness, a condition that restricts the growth of one's true self.

If you are a practitioner and find yourself in such a state, you must recognise it as an inappropriate way of thinking and acting. You must awaken to this reality and change your ways immediately. This narrowness is a manifestation of ego-attachment. It is the hallmark of those who hold onto a strong sense of self, placing their own importance above all else. The more you cling to your ego, the more obvious this restrictive condition becomes, and the further you drift from your original nature.

The Infinite Power of the Vows

Every being possesses the true self, and within that true self, one has the potential to build a Buddha-land. The greater your mind-capacity, the more expansive and magnificent your Buddha-land will become. Consider the example of Namo Amituofo. Through the assistance of Lokesvararaja Buddha and the diligent practice undertaken during the causal stage, Namo Amituofo established the Forty-eight Great Vows. Because every one of these vows has been fulfilled, this serves as a profound demonstration of the Two-Power method, where the practitioner's efforts are supported by the Buddha's infinite power.

The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, which Namo Amituofo has constructed, is a manifestation of this true self-nature. It is vast and immeasurable because Namo Amituofo’s mind-capacity is boundless; therefore, the Pure Land can expand infinitely.

The Manifestation of Compassion

Practitioner Su, following the vow to save countless suffering beings, has engaged in diligent practice to realise the true self. With the assistance of the power of Namo Amituofo, Practitioner Su has established the Western Land of Dharma Nature. Today, this land has already saved immeasurable and boundless demon crowds and suffering beings. This success is possible only because Practitioner Su’s mind-capacity is boundless, allowing the Pure Land to expand without limit.

Now, we must ask ourselves: for the fourfold assembly of disciples, how great is your mind-capacity, and how vast is the Pure Land you are building?
