Words of Namo Amituofo, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable Fa Hui.

Namo Amituofo says to all of you:

My dear children, the most vital task in your spiritual practice is to find your true self. This is the ultimate purpose of your journey. Any attachment or habit that hinders you from uncovering this original nature must be let go of immediately. You must be firm in your resolve to stop these distractions.

The Obstacles to

If you continue to harbour the and indulge in the , you will remain trapped in the cycle of suffering. These obstacles include:

  • The Five Poisons: Greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt.
  • The Five Desires: Wealth, lust, fame, food, and sleep.
  • The Ego: Your stubborn personality and attachments to self-identity.

If these are not cut off, the state of being drowsy or losing yourself in other dimensions will continue indefinitely. You will be unable to break free, and you will be forced to endure the suffering of not being the master of your own life.

Breaking the Cycle of

This state of being drowsy or wandering into other spaces is a serious matter. If you do not resolve it in this lifetime, it will inevitably continue into your next life. This is because there are far too many complex laws of karma and cause and effect woven into these experiences. You must understand that your current state is a result of past actions, and only through diligent practice can you change your future.

Cultivating the Seeds of Goodness

If you, as students of Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, truly wish to rediscover your true self, you must be willing to abandon the Five Poisons and the Five Desires. You must be especially vigilant regarding anger. Even the most subtle trace of anger must not be allowed to arise within your heart. Instead, you must cultivate the following habits:

  • See Goodness: Train your eyes to perceive the inherent goodness in all beings.
  • Speak Goodness: Use your words to uplift, encourage, and bring harmony to others.
  • Do Goodness: Perform actions that benefit all beings and align with the .
  • Think Goodness: Maintain a mind that is pure, kind, and free from malicious intent.

By doing this, you will grow and achieve the fruit of . This is the only way to ensure that even the most subtle anger cannot take root in your heart.

The Radiance of Your Original Nature

Every being possesses an original nature that is inherently perfect. It is filled with goodness, , wisdom, and boundless virtue. It is naturally harmonious, peaceful, and beautiful, remaining undisturbed by external chaos. The more you engage in purification, the more your original nature will manifest. As your Six Roots become purified, these virtues will naturally radiate from your heart, and your physical appearance will naturally reflect the dignity and auspicious characteristics that arise from a pure mind.

A Rare Opportunity for Transformation

At this very moment, Namo Amituofo truly abides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. For all students of Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and those who come to seek the Dharma, this is a golden opportunity to find your true self. It is a rare chance to rediscover your self-nature. You must grasp this opportunity firmly and do not let it slip away. May you all find the path to liberation and return to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
