From the Depths of Hell to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss
An Interview with the Spirit of Lay Practitioner Hu Guohua
Recorded by Chief Writer Fa Ning on April 10, 2026
This interview was recorded on April 10, 2026, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. Lay Practitioner Hu Guohua, the mother of Lay Practitioner Lü Rongwei, sought deliverance through the compassionate guidance of Practitioner Su. After passing away, she was rescued from the hell realms and guided to the , and subsequently to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, where she now resides and continues her learning.
Lay Practitioner Hu Guohua speaks:
"Namo Amituofo and greetings to Practitioner Su. I am Hu Guohua, and I have come here today to report that I am safe and well. Most importantly, I want to express my deepest gratitude. I am so grateful for the Buddha’s , which has allowed me and nine other spirits to travel from the human world to the Western -Nature Land, and finally to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Today, we have truly set foot upon this Buddha-land, and we are truly learning alongside the Buddha. When I reflect on all these changes, it feels absolutely inconceivable; everything has unfolded with such incredible speed."
A Miraculous Rescue from Suffering
"I am an incredibly fortunate mother. I never expected that shortly after I passed away from illness, I would be rescued from the hell realms by Practitioner Su. She guided my spirit to the Western Dharma-Nature Land—a realm of pure, brilliant light. I know that everything that has happened is truly no small feat. This world is so vast, yet we were so incredibly lucky to have encountered the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and to have learned that Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su are here, working tirelessly to save all beings.
This is precisely why, shortly after my passing, my daughter rushed to arrange an opportunity for for me. It allowed me to immediately end the short but agonizing torment I was enduring in hell. Even now, when I look back at the tortures of the hell realms, my heart still trembles with fear! It was a kind of endless suffering—a pain so profound that I felt utterly hopeless, yet I had no way to control or escape it."
The Weight of and the Clarity of the Dharma
"When I first descended into the hell realms, I remember my head aching intensely, as if someone were constantly digging into my brain. I realised that although I was not a 'bad' person during my life, people always carry so much personality and selfishness. The more you think only of yourself, the more complex your mind becomes, and the more you attract. Naturally, you are then summoned by the hell realms to receive your retribution. It is truly a phenomenon that would leave anyone in disbelief. Later, in the Western Dharma-Nature Land, I was finally able to let go, open my heart, and accept the purification of the Buddha-light and the Dharma-water. Especially here, where I do nothing but chant Namo Amituofo, make prostrations, and listen to the sutras and the Dharma, I have grown so much in just a few short weeks."
The Eternal Growth of the Spirit
"When I speak of growth, I am referring to the growth of our spirit, not the growth of the physical body in the human world. The growth of the physical body is only temporary, but the growth of the spirit is eternal. Here, I have personally experienced the vast difference between the physical body and the spirit. People in the human world are essentially stuck at the level of the physical body. For the sake of satisfying ’s desires and pleasures, they engage in all sorts of karma-creating activities without even realising it. I was exactly like that when I was alive.
All the various sensations of this body are actually false; they are sensations we create for ourselves, which then lead us to continue suffering. If people could only break free from this and tell themselves that this body is merely a temporary loan—a vessel we use for a short time in the human world to accomplish many things—they would not be so attached to this skin. Everything is illusory. Even whether one is male or female, what one’s name is, or where one lives—these are all illusory. In the world, it is naturally very difficult for people to understand this, because every single detail appears so clearly right before their eyes."
A Message to My Family
"However, I must tell my children and my family: while you still possess this body at this very moment, you must use it wisely. Do not pamper it too much. After all, it is only a temporary identity you hold in the human world. Sooner or later, everyone must follow in my footsteps and attain rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. There is no benefit in lingering in the human world; birth, aging, sickness, and death will arrive very quickly. Everyone is on this same path, and no one can escape it.
I find that I can speak very quickly here, and my expression of thoughts has become incredibly clear—haha! That is only possible when the mind is truly bright and clear. You may find it difficult to comprehend the degree of purification the Buddha-light has provided me. If you in the human world can simply keep chanting Namo Amituofo, keep chanting, and stop thinking only of yourselves, the Buddha-light is actually shining upon you all the time. Perhaps one day, when your spiritual sensitivity increases, you, my family and friends in the human world, will be able to feel the purification of the Buddha-light for yourselves."
The of True Self
"The Buddha-light here is truly so warm and so vast, which is why my spiritual elevation has been so rapid. The way I speak now is completely different from before. In the past, I used my physical body, but the body is composed of many different spirits, and the words I spoke were not necessarily my own—they might have been spoken by those spirits. But at this very moment, I am truly myself—the true self within the spirit.
I hope you can all feel the happiness and joy I experience now. Being able to communicate with you through my spirit is truly a miraculous thing, and only the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre could accomplish such high-tech spiritual work. I hope you will all have faith in the Buddha, chant one Buddha's name to the end, and while you still have this body in the human world, help to propagate the Buddha’s teachings. That is truly a matter of immense merit."
A Final Farewell
"Well, I have said so much. I am doing very well here, so please rest assured and do not worry about me. Although I have not been away from the human world for long, my memories have already faded; they are no longer as profound as they once were. Everything in the human world has faded significantly for me. What is about to welcome me is a truly new life—a life of following Namo Amituofo toward Buddhahood, a life of true autonomy.
I hope that you, too, will soon have this same realisation.
Gratitude to Namo Amituofo, gratitude to Practitioner Su, gratitude to all my relatives and friends in the human world, and gratitude to my children.
Namo Amituofo."
