Infinite Light: Teachings from Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju
A Discourse from the Thrice Yearning Ceremony
The Radiance of the True Nature
Light is what all beings yearn for. It is the fundamental aspiration of the heart. When we speak of this light, we refer to the inherent brilliance of our original nature, not the flickering illumination of the physical world.
Consider the qualities of this light as it manifests through our being:
- The Luminous Heart: A heart that is pure, good, and without flaw.
- The Luminous Body: A body that is soft, clean, and radiant, emitting the gentle fragrance of virtue.
- The Luminous Spirit: A spirit that shines with boundless light, allowing all beings to receive its warmth.
To attain this, one must diligently adjust and purify the heart, body, and spirit, which have been clouded by defilements. Only through this purification can the true light be revealed.
The Two Powers of the Path
The methods for this purification are found within the Two Powers of the Pure Land path. The first power is your own sincere practice, and the second is the compassionate support of the Buddha.
The Buddha's mean that the power of Namo Amituofo manifests directly before you to assist your progress. Namo Amituofo takes great in serving all sentient beings, bringing true happiness and peace to your heart. By relying on this connection, you find the strength to overcome the obstacles that have long hindered your spiritual growth.
The Infinite Energy of the Western Land
The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is defined by two supreme qualities: Infinite Life and Infinite Light. These represent a reality of boundless existence and inexhaustible energy.
Infinite Life means your existence is no longer constrained by time. Infinite Light signifies that the energy available in the Western Land is limitless. Even beings from distant star systems seek to travel to the Western Land to receive this inexhaustible energy, ensuring they are never lacking in the nourishment required for their spiritual journey.
A Sanctuary of Eternal Light
Because Namo Amituofo truly abides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, this place has become a sanctuary of light. It exists within the spiritual space of the Western Land of -Nature, a realm where there is no distinction between day and night.
Within this Dharma-Nature Land, all beings gather with the fourfold assembly to listen to sutras and hear the Dharma. They listen to the voices of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, witnessing the as it unfolds. As they bathe in the Buddha-light, their spirits are transformed, embraced by the compassionate grace of Namo Amituofo.
Collective and Gratitude
This sacred space is open to all, including the fourfold assembly, , spirits who have attached themselves to others, beings in the air, and those represented by memorial tablets. By practising diligently in this pure environment, all can hear the supreme Dharma—the path to Buddhahood.
You must seize this precious opportunity. For the karmic creditors, this is a chance to resolve grievances and find the blessings necessary for rebirth in the Western Land. For the fourfold assembly, it is a call to practise with diligence and realise your true nature. We do all of this to repay the boundless kindness of the Buddha.
