Teachings by Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju:
"Knowledge" refers to the understanding, comprehension, and clarity of knowledge, scholarship, or the Buddha’s teachings.
"Practice" is the act of truly implementing what has been understood according to its theories and methods.
Being able to unite knowledge and practice is a state of Body-Mind-Spirit harmony.
Guided by the heart, one puts what is understood into action,
allowing action and understanding to verify each other, so that what is known can be confirmed through action,
such practice is even more grounded and powerful.
If knowledge and practice are two separate things that cannot be unified,
then the afflictions of delusions, discriminations, and attachment will emerge, and one will be unable to realise what is known;
then the knowledge and Buddha’s teachings that one has learned and understood will be like a castle in the air,
clear to see on the outside but of no practical use.
Uniting knowledge and practice requires one to put in the work within the heart,
understand its importance, do not let time pass in vain, and strive to realise the ultimate reality within knowledge and practice.
This experience is precious; it is not superficial or distant, but something cultivated in a down-to-earth manner.
This is great cultivation; one can practise what one knows, and reveal what one knows through practice, with a stable and harmonious Body-Mind-Spirit,
a wise person should be able to unite knowledge and practice.
The knowledge of Buddha or and Those who have realised their true nature is boundless,
and the places where the can act are also endless,
free and at ease, acting for the sake of saving beings wherever one goes.
One can use one's own experience of knowledge and practice, employing both and wisdom to help those one teaches to have moments of realisation,
and to achieve and success sooner.
