Because one sees the suffering of beings, one makes a vow to practise and achieve success for oneself, so that the Buddha-nature within one's true self can manifest, to save countless suffering beings. [[BLOCK_0]] Compassion manifests in having faith in the Buddha, and being able to believe in, accept, and uphold the Infinite Life Sutra (The Buddha Speaks the , Infinite Life, Adornment, Purity, Impartiality, and Sutra), thereby achieving success in practice. One can, like Amitabha Buddha, make the Ultimate Vow and have great compassion, saving oneself and saving beings to the , propagating the to save the endless. [[BLOCK_1]] Compassion manifests in "Patience (Endurance)". What is called compassionate Patience (Endurance) refers to when others do not treat me with sincerity, or even speak with anger or glare at me, yet I am able to maintain an unmoved mind. If one can maintain compassionate Patience (Endurance) and an unmoved mind, the other person's anger will naturally extinguish, rather than allowing one's own or the other's hatred to arise, which would burn the forest of merit. The meaning of this saying is that one thinks one is acting with compassion, but in reality, one is committing acts that violate the or overstep boundaries. [[BLOCK_4]] Compassion manifests in the diligent practice of Precepts (Discipline), Concentration and Wisdom, and in extinguishing greed, hatred, and delusion; it manifests in the extensive practice of the Six Perfections to attain Buddhahood; and it manifests even more in chanting one Buddha's name to the end, practising the three studies and the Six Perfections together, and attaining Buddhahood.
